HTC DESIRE HD

so :) guys have had this awesome phone for a few days now and was wondering how much usage you guys have used from out of the box
im soo keen to upgrade to it but worried about data usage , last thing i need is a 1gb usage bill from mtn lol
any ideas ?

The Desire HD was built for internet & social media, why handicap it? Put it on wifi at work & wifi at home. Only use 3G when you're out & about.

I've done the same with my iPhone & it has worked really well for the last two years.

Well im paranoid about them sending the wrong phone especially cause when they phoned the first thing the guy said is "oh yes we have stock!" but I did just send him an e-mail to confirm and he said its a lightish brown phone and its the HTC Desire HD. Still wont relax till I see it for myself but lets hope they know the difference now and everyone will get the right ones. Kingrob when are you ment to be getting yours? you got through mtn online as well hey? ps- I also just orederd the 12 piece accessory pack off e-bay. comes with 2 1500mah batteries :)

I ordered the same pack! I got mine now!

OK guys, no talking to me again for the rest of the week!

I'm busy OK!

For the MTNSP guys in Cape Town - Canal Walk just called to say that they have stock

Got mine a few hours ago and yes I am so happy. It is damn awesome! I don't know where to start... :p

Just because I can ;)

Just got my Desire HD this afternoon!

This is one SICK phone! I love love love it!!

The battery is already flat, so waiting for it to charge up to take it for another spin. :)

Screen is absolutely beautiful & YouTube got in on the deal by just showing me HD videos (was wondering why the videos looked so gorgeous!). I can just imagine how awesome a movie will look on this great screen!

It's fast fast fast! You don't wait for this phone, it waits for you. :p

Music quality is superb, but must admit I'm using my Sennheiser MM50 earbuds. However, the supplied earphones don't sound too bad.

When I switched it on for the first time, it asked me if I want to move my contacts from my old phone, I said yes, it asked what phone, tapped on iPhone 3G, asked me to turn on Bluetooth on the iPhone and ZIP! - all my contacts were on my Desire HD. The most painless contacts importing operation I've ever done.

Configured all my mail accounts & I was up and running. Was actually thinking - why can't all mobile phones be this easy to configure?

The only negative so far is that my iPhone 3G's screen now feels really puny against this monster. The iPhone will now be stowed away.

*I'm not opening the battery compartment again, that battery will have to stay there. :)

Awesome news kingrod, I didn't have a second sim to export my contacts. I love everything about this phone.

It is a great phone! So happy with it. Still getting the hang of Android, bit of a learning curve compared to iOS, but really really like it.

*My iPhone was in offline mode/without a sim when I exported my contacts.

I must try that offline mode.

Thanks Zenbaas! It is a great phone, you won't be sorry if you order one tomorrow. :)

The battery compartment bracket feels a bit flimsy, don't think it's meant to be opened too often.

Ah damn, my SE P1i does not have an offline mode without the sim.

Yup, you're right. My P990i was the same, phone wouldn't boot in offline mode.

Just get a prepaid sim (99c at PEP) and do the transfer.

I've seen 1/2 vids on youtube where users have similar complaints. Either way I've already "booked" mine at VM which should have some by friday, so I'm holding thumbs :D

You're onto a winner!

It's a delicate battery cover and should be handled as such. Have patience & you won't even know what the fuss is all about.

*Holding thumbs for you. ;)

Received my DHD from handtech.co.uk yesterday afternoon.

It's my first Android phone and I'm coming form a iPhone3G (no desant Android phones 2+ years ago)

Only have been using it a couple of hours and really having a blast.

Just having 2 issues so far (... have not done any research on fixing it yet)

* Ringer and headfone volume not as loud as I would have liked.

Hope to fix it with some low level master volume setting/hack and better headfones.

* No WiFi proxy settings.

Probably some 3de party app that could fix this.

Off to surf the app market ....
