HTC DESIRE HD

doh now i need a screen protector and a belt case!!
anyone know of any good places to get it cept expansys

You're onto a winner!

It's a delicate battery cover and should be handled as such. Have patience & you won't even know what the fuss is all about.

*Holding thumbs for you. ;)
Hahaha thanks :) I'm nowhere near as fanatical as you bunch but then again who wouldn't like a new shiny toy to play with! :D

I ordered the same pack! I got mine now!

OK guys, no talking to me again for the rest of the week!

I'm busy OK!

I know you're busy :D, but can you list what is in that 12 pack (or post a link).
Oh, and how much?

Received my DHD from handtech.co.uk yesterday afternoon.

It's my first Android phone and I'm coming form a iPhone3G (no desant Android phones 2+ years ago)

Only have been using it a couple of hours and really having a blast.

Just having 2 issues so far (... have not done any research on fixing it yet)

* Ringer and headfone volume not as loud as I would have liked.

Hope to fix it with some low level master volume setting/hack and better headfones.

* No WiFi proxy settings.

Probably some 3de party app that could fix this.

Off to surf the app market ....

Sent from my Desire HD using MyBroadband Android App

You finally got your phone! Enjoy!

I think the ringer volume can be fixed with a custom ringtone that's very loud, but I'm just using HTC default ringtone scheme at the mo. Not too shabby.

Must still figure the keyboard out, there are a few characters missing, like < > = . Obviously a noob problem. :)

As far as screen protectors go which ones are you guys using...?
For my last two phones i've used these ones:

I know it's a bit expensive but I can definitely vouch for it's durability. Is there anything local that can compete...?

What about something like this---> http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/htc-desire-hd-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php

Martin Fields is the best in the industry, dont settle for anything less. I used it on my SE P990i and was very happy with it.

I'm not gonna get a screen protector for mine, didn't use one on my iPhone 3G for the last two years and the screen still looks as good as new.

Eish, but I'll feel like a wuss without one on a 4.3" screen....:erm: But agreed on the martinsfields screen protectors, it's always worked great for me.

Ah, problem solved!

A set of special characters (including > and <) can be found by clicking the “12#” key to the right of the space, then the “1/2″ to the left of the space.

I always feel that the screen is a bit less sensitive with the screen protector over it & with my iPhone it made it a bit more difficult to view the screen in direct sunlight.

Well as we speak I have one covering my nokia 5800 which has a resistive type screen and it's incredibly sensitive to my touch. Don't know if the effect would be any different on a capacitive screen.

Just used HTC Sync for the first time on my pc - and it rocks!

Asked me what I want to sync, I selected pics, music (I could select my own custom music folders, hooray!!!), contacts & FILES (I'm looking at you, Apple) & everything was done in no time.

Needless to say, iTunes will be uninstalled from my pc today. :D

*Anyone else with an iPhone that has upgraded to a Desire HD? To me, Apple's iOS feels a bit mediocre and almost like a kiddie OS against Android 2.2 - not sure why.

The Desire HD was built for internet & social media, why handicap it? Put it on wifi at work & wifi at home. Only use 3G when you're out & about.

I've done the same with my iPhone & it has worked really well for the last two years.

I would love to use WiFi at work - but my problem is that we use a log-in account and password to get onto WiFi at work and my phone picks up the Wifi, but then can't connect! How do I get it to ask me for my login details? With a pc it is so quick to connect to wifi! When you go onto the internet, it asks you for the login name and password.

Holy mutha, that's cheap!! Wouldn't just a new battery cost you more than R240?

That is a bummer!

But you can put in the username + password when you configure the wifi network? Or does it prompt you for a username & password every time you login?

Sorry guys. Sad news - alas, our monster has some weaknesses :)

There is no proxy settings for wifi on this monster. Hopefully it will be done in the future, but for now - nothing yet!
