lordy, finally got my phone today. what a mission. retentions "lost" my applications so they sourced a handset from a local shop. let the games begin!
Guys how are the quality of the photos that you have taken...? I like that the phone auto-focuses but I hate that it doesn't just take the picture after it has focused. Quite often when I press the button when taking a photo I find that the movement at that time causes image blur. Anyone have a solution to this...?
We seriously need this for Android

Sent from my Desire HD using MyBroadband Android App
AMAZING! Fsck thats awesome!
Yes, but I wonder how long you'll have your phone if you're trying to decode some Xhosa at a ANC youth rally.![]()
Damn zoner, you're giving me assignments just before Christmas! You're a slave driver.
I never bothered with my iPhone, when I did a clean restore I just downloaded the apps from the App Store again, or downloaded it for seperate phones.
Will find out and report back.
1. How do you download the app market stuff on your PC ?
2. When you download apps on your cell where do the .apk file go ? (I wanna backup just my .apk files to PC or maybe copy from PC to another cell via USB)
3. How do you share, send or copy apps to another cell (not just send the link to an app - I want the whole app sent). I know about e.g. "bump" but that just sends you the link to download!
How do you access "C:" drive via USB
Ok, ok .... been very "busy" with my Desire HD lately.
1. You can't access the Android Market from your pc...yet. Must admit, that's the only area where Apple is still light years ahead. Check here : http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android Market/thread?tid=17d0f4f6cde7ef43&hl=en
2. Still trying to confirm default save location on phone for apps, think you gonna need something like ASTRO file manager, or ES
3. I'm sure it must be possible with bluetooth, the search continues.
It's Linux, so no C drive. Get used to this : /dev/hda .
*You have some very good questions & once we get answers for everything, you should publish the book.![]()
More stuff I wanna know:
Ok, so where do they hide the free ebooks that come with the phone?
What format are they in? EPUB, Kindle, PDF, Plucker, QiOO Mobile, Plain Text UTF-8?
(I wanna add more ebooks from my pc to the HTC 'stock' ebook Reader folder)
How do you access "C:" drive via USB
Ok. I found the answer to the 2nd half of my question:
With the DHD stock eBook reader to import an eBook on your SD card you have to create a folder 'Digital Editions' on the root of your SD card.
In this folder put your epub (sometimes people have to use USB-PC connection, I did it with my file manager).
The book appears in the bookshelf of the reader
That is simply awesome!
Must admit, I haven't even touched the eBook reader, just had a quick look and back to copying music & movies onto my phone. My SD card has got 2GB left & Esquire doesn't have anything at the mo. Looking for a Class 4 (or better) Kingston 32GB SD card.
If Esquire has no stock I might be able to get you:
Transcend® High Performance Secure Digital HC Class 10 Flash Memory - 32GB - Only works with SDHC Compliant devices
What price did you get from Esquire?
Wht movie player you using? I found that the stock "videos" player was out-of-sync when skipping through XviD's.
I'm using VPlayer instead - have found no playback issues with it yet.
Unlike Garmin and NDrive who sees Southern Africa as those countries Like Moz, Nam, Bots, Zim etc. HTC/Route66/TomTom's My Location is a bit geographically challenged. I went for the perpetual Premium Navigation update, only to find out that it only has South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland, unlike Garmin or NDrive. I tried to get a refund but no, that is not possible. Naming their region as Southern Africa is misleading. I actually told Route66 AKA HTC My Locations to go on the web and look at the definition of Southern Africa and to look at what Garmin and NDrive offers. They refused, thus I must warn everyone not to do the Premium Navigation upgrade unless you only want to do South Africa. For this purpose it is perfect.
NDrive is currently for me the best option on the DHD and it works very well. I actually wanted to get Garmap Mobile Onboard, but apparently it still has issues with voice etc. Another brilliant option is Google Navigation Brut. I just love it.
