HTC DESIRE HD

It is my DHD that's eating up my data! Got a 500mb plan from MTN and two weeks later - my data is gone! Ok, I downloaded everything! Was just listening 2 every1 gloat about wifi @ home and thought I should look into it!

On a diff note - when are we getting da new software update? Heard it really helps with da pic / video quality?
 
Desire HD

I have had my Desire HD for a week now and what a fantastic phone, moved from iphone to this phone and loving it, i use an app called data on demand that switches off the data connection..anyways, waiting for Android 2.3. great phone, battery life is excellent, 3-4 days(mail syncing, weather etc running all the time).
 
So this may have been asked but do any shops actually sell protective covers for the DHD? I want something now. I cant afford to wait for 10 for delivery.

Vodacom, look & Listen, MTN, Cell C...no one has...?

I ordered a Martin Fields screen protector from Expansys and am still waiting.

I then decided to get something cheap and nasty to hold the fort for a while but after looking at several shops, I also got the "nope, we don't have" answer. This is so depressing because I've scratched my screen a few times already.

In other news, I think I got a sucky Samsung micro-SD card because once in a while, my DHD will tell me I've ejected my card. I hope to buy a new micro-SD in 2011 but first...that screen protector...
 
Got my HD yesterday.

The HTC shop in Vodaworld sells those plastic sticky covers for R108.
Couldn't get myself to buy it. Is a bit expensive for plastic sticky tape.

My ADSL provider is Webafrica. I have the complete 7 for R499 (30gigs/4mb). The normal price is abouy R900 or so. It was a special they were running for MyBB members. Awesome deal.

I am also on Webafrica. But WA's home page is not compatible with the Android browser on the Desire HD. Can't get it to show the right part of the screen where you put your login details to view your account.

Shads, if I understand you correctly all you need is a wireless router for your home ADSL. Or just enable the wireless option on your existing router if it has that option. Most newish linksys routers have that option. There is no need to get another ADSL package. Hopefully I'm not barking up the wrong tree.

I see that a some lucky people have just got their DHD's. Does this mean that there is some stock that became available ? Any on MTN in Durban ?

Just did the 41MB system upgrade 2.2 -> 2.2.1 and lost my ROOT access. Current installed version of VISIONary+ is unable to re-root my device.


/off to do some research ...

I've got a Vodafone B970 HSDPA router from Vodacom.

Got it free (was R2700 cash for the B970 beginning of the year) on a Topup 400 contract and with that I can buy a super duper 2.3GB bandwidth a month. Woopie.

Will it maybe help to untick the "use mobile version of web site" in the browser settings? Just see what happens.
 
I have the screen protector I ordered from ebay on mine - show'd a friend and he didn't believe me there was a screen protector on, had to show him the packaging (he has the old Desire).

Cost me R70 and arrived in just over two weeks.
 
I also luv da screen protectors from e-bay! Brilliant quality. Just noticed a huge scratch on my screen and nearly had a heart attack - probably from inside my bag! Took off da screen protector, and no scratch! Thank God I had the cover!!!

Don't have ADSL. Still being ripped of with data bundles on my cell account.
 
I have never been so engrossed with a device. I got bored of my iPhone and BB after the first 2-3 hours but there is so much to do to with the Desire HD. Im a fan!

Been playing with my home screen and widgets for the past few hours, downloading apps and having a ball. So much to do so little battery...haha

There's way too much to do with this phone.

You can actually become a decent photographer, try a few HD movie recordings, play some music, copy some movies (Dolby mobile is very nice), play Angry Birds, use the eReader, install a BarCode Scanner and amuse yourself, edit some office docs or powerpoint slides, play with the satnav (R277 for unlimited licence though), see how cool is the twitter & Facebook integration with your contacts, surf a few web sites, customize your phone with the ton of widgets available, etc, etc.....and then make a few phone calls. :D

*The phone multitasks like a dream, just hold in the home button slightly for a sec and it will show you all open apps. I jump between 3 and 4 apps regularly and the phone doesn't slow down.

ok, so it doesnt seem like anyone knows where to get pouches or covers from. About to order from expansys but its still gonna take 10 days...

If you are willing to order from the US, you can get the proper thing. I ordered mine a week or so ago, shipped within a few days, now just waiting for our customs to get back to work :)
The full body easy install is the one I went for. Friend has been using it on his normal Desire for months and has been very, very happy. Even with the exchange rate and shipping it's is not too bad, I paid R195 in total
