Dont get your hopes up! Think it might still be a while.

Nowadays I'm consistently getting more than a day and a half from my battery, so happy as can be! :)

My Desire HD rocks!

Does anyone know if MTN has stock in already? Calling the call centre is just fail, they can never get the model right.

Best is to phone your local MTN shop and ask them....or you can try MTN Retentions if you're feeling brave. :)

Howsit okes? Please answer those you can- no pressure to nail the whole lot!

[freeware naturally, or a disclaimer so I know to look for a version that 'fell off a truck']

1. What's the latest official MTN firmware? 2.2 or 2.2.1? Any other info you need from me? I bought phone from Duty Free, so it's not an MTN phone...
2. How can I change the default language and download more official language packs?
3. Where the hey can I get a BodyGlove/similar cover in CPT? Have tried everywhere! Dropped phone out of pocket already :(
4. Best screen protector? Anything recommended/available in CPT?
5. Need an app to hide/password protect certain files. So they don't show up in general gallery or document editors...
6. Anyone one running on CellC? I'm hoping to get the RedBull Mobile story as soon as it launches. Are speeds great? Assuming adequate coverage/load etc...
7. Best power widget to turn 3G on off, GPS on off, WiFi on off, Sync on off, screen brightness etc.
8. Heard of a tower defence game, similar to 'Bloons' Anyone know what it is or have anything similar that's cool?
9. Volume seems below par- in call and sometimes media too. Heard this could be something to do with using radio (which I don't). Anyone else 'been hevving' this? How to fix?

Cheers!

Wow Budza, I need a leetle bit more time...

Much appreciated, whatever you can answer will be great!

1st post using the app :)

Yup, also getting great battery life now. When I first got the DHD I almost sold it cause of the battery. Put it this way, I took it off charge at 7 this morning and after a full day of use I still have 38% battery up until now and its 23:00 That's bloody good

Ok, let's see if I can help :

1. Latest official firmware on MTN & Vodacom is 2.2 - only the Desire got updated.
2. It's in your user guide on your phone. Open Adobe PDF reader and it will list all the PDFs stored on your phone/SD card - open the User Guide PDF.
3. No covers available from shops yet, you'll have to order online.
4. Martin Fields. Order online. (I've always used these guys and never had any problems. http://www.doml.com/ZA/MFOP-HTCDesireHD )
5. Quick Google Search led me to this : http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-schwimmer-android-hidenseek-jmqq.aspx
6. Not that I know of.
7. Don't know. I don't use power widgets at all.
8. Check out Android Market?
9. The volume is definitely not as good as my iPhone (the tinny speaker at the back must take full responsibility), but as soon as you plug in a decent headset - it all changes. Not sure if it can be fixed with a firmware update.

After hating the HTC Diamond I swore I would never buy a HTC again, but dam this phone really looks sweet :p

Wouldn't mind buying one.

Thanks!

What headset are you using? I'll be going through duty free again and was thinking I'd treat myself to a nice set.

I've been using my ~4yr old SonyEricsson W800i in-ear set. They were plugged into my 5800 media control/mic unit which has been great. Can answer calls, play/pause/stop and go next/previous track from it:

Unfortunately, this thing does not work in my DHD :(

Anyone got a decent pair of in-ear phones that have call answer & mic functions as well as media controls that works with this phone?

Something like this would be great, if it works: http://www.headphones.com/Headphone...ARPHONES-WITH-IN-LINE-CONTROLS-MIC-56669.html

Sweet. They're the same as the ones on special: http://www.capi.com/C01_03_johannesburg_SO.htm

MM50IP, going for R499. Is that a decent price? Do you remember what you shelled out for yours?

Assuming this is a good price, I'll be having it. If anyone else wants a pair, let me know. I'll be there this weekend, back next weekend.

EDIT:

Also keen on a bigger MicroSD. 32GB would be sweet. ~Class 6. What's a good deal on these?

I paid almost R800 for mine...that is a bargain!

Anyone have problems with sending and receiving mms?

I had this problem when I first got my DHD. Also on Vodacom. It ended up being the proxy settings of the Vodacom MMS access point. For some very strange reason it didn't like the default 196.6.128.13 setting. I specifically had to fill in the full 3 digits 196.006.128.013. After that I was able to send and receive MMSes fine.

Maybe this will work for you too :)

Hey Coastalshark, I really don't believe it's worth being without your phone for 5 weeks for a stuck pixel. I have a similar stuck or "hot" pixel on my Canon 50D and live with it. It'll only show up on certain backgrounds and easy to clone out using photo editing software. Don't know much about Android apps, but there are probably free photo editing apps that'll do the job without having to open the photo in a stand-alone image editor.

He's talking about on the phones screen - not the camera sensor.

Yup, my poor phone :( Anyway, its on its way to Leaf now after being picked up by Nashua Mobile. 4 weeks wait. We shall see whether I get a new screen or a new phone ...

Four weeks without my Desire HD? No!!!

I went to the U2 concert in Cape Town last night & decided to leave the Desire HD at home and take the backup phone, my iPhone 3G.

What a big mistake! The iPhone just annoyed the crap out of me & I made a pledge to myself not to use it ever again, unless my Desire HD must be repaired or got stolen.

I just love my Desire HD. :)

I did the same thing at U2 on Sunday. Couldn't bear the thought of losing my DHD so I took my old Blackberry.

Stupid/dumb question. Tried to find the option to manually change the settings. Please tell me how to get to the option to change it?

I took mine with to U2 :)

Only took two pics though :p

My car charger, desk charger and 3 micro usb cables arrived today ... just in time too - my HTC cable seems to be breaking at the connector.
