HTC DESIRE HD

Kingrob - when I install or update certain apps (not all) then it download it OK, but then it gives an error message. A work around to this is to unmount your SD card till it is done. Then it installs OK. But I don't wanna have to keep unmounting!

Thats not cool! Your internal storage is gonna fill up in no time.

I havent had this before, but I just install from the Market & only if the app's star rating is 4 or above.

hey guys...the weirdest thing happened yesterday...my phone was freezing n stuff so I restarted it...but when it turned on again,all my messages were deleted!!!any advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

other than that I am loving this phone...was comparing it to my brother in law's iPhone 3gs n the iPhone felt like a toy!!!so plasticky n such a tiny screen...really glad I got this phone n not a blackberry

I've had issues like that. Was trying to connect to 3G with a new service provider. Wouldn't connect, and after trying everything I opted to restart. It cleared all my saved APN
details :( Thought the old: Windows problems, reboot. Linux (Android??) problems, be root adage would apply to the phones too...

I thought my 5800 was chunky- it now feels like a toy :) This is one seriaas piece of kit! Got some HD videos to show it off. HD Proximity Flying videos (google if you've never heard of it). Sweet :D
 
The people from the last few pages that is experiencing problems on their DHD, is your device rooted or stock OS??
Seems to me that the people I know, that use the stock OS, has limited problems(if at all) and those that roots is opening a can of worms.

I'm rooted with a custom ROM. No issues at all :-)
 
I've not rooted my phone...its still running the stock OS..seems as if my problem is bigger than I initially thought...I cannot read messages I receive...the notification sound plays but there's no message to be read...beginning to think it might be a software problem...I've rebooted twice now...gonna try n take the battery out,but ill do that later when I'm at home

any advice/tips/feedback would be greatly appreciated

EDIT - seems that taking out the battery solved the problem...I can now see my received messages...the old ones are gone for ever it seems...o well...that's life

You remind me of the Android Mail app when I just got my Desire HD.

I added my Vodamail + Hotmail accounts to the mail app, but after three days all the email in the inbox would mysteriously disappear.

It freaked me out, till I realized I must tick the "Leave a copy of mail on the server" in Outlook, cos if the Mail app doesn't see the mail on the server anymore, it just deletes it from the phone as well. Took me a while to figure that out!

Nowadays I just run everything through Gmail, doubled my battery life. :)
 
A quick question. I set a ringtone to my wife's number but now when she messgaes me on whatsapp the bloody ringtone rings instead of the normal whatsapp sounds...? Any Ideas how to fix it...?
 
can we get an idea of average battery life for your phone please?

maybe list what apps you are running that access the net, and how many mail accounts/calendars/contacts you are syncing

OK so today I'm sitting at kuaui waiting foe my food and it picks up the free wifi. I try access the internet with it but it requires I set up and account. Since I couldn't be bothered I turn my wifi off. Now my mobile data refuses to connect. It says 'failed to connect to mobile data'

It's probably messed with my settings and apn right. Should it be vlive or intertnet.vodacom

Anything else I can check?

My phone uses Internet.Vodacom & MMS.Vodacom

Damn, I was hoping someone else would do this, cos I don't have the strength, but here goes :

average battery life : 2 days

apps running : WhatsApp, Facebook, MyBroadband, Engadget, News24, Messages, GMail, HTC Sense, Weather. I'm using Gmail to sync 3 mail accounts, calender & contacts.

I am too scared to open the battery compartment.

I managed to bugger up my Nokia Navigator's back cover & somehow I suspect my Desire HD's battery cover will be next. :(

Have you got a lot of apps on your phone? I read in another thread that someone's Desire HD is also acting weird & I suspect it might be a rogue app.
 
Probably a gremlin in some app. I dont actually have many. I tend to download and delete the *** ones.

As for the battery cover, its rather retarded. On the first day I got my phone I managed to get it stuck. Took it to vodacare and they spent over 30mins trying to pry it open without breaking it. After you've done it once or twice it isnt that bad.

I agree. Cant believe HTC gave such a great phone such a crappy battery cover.

Ok, I will try to open it next year. :)
