Speaking of highly recommended, I flashed the RCmix3D rom, built on the leaked Sensation XL rom Android 2.3.5 and sense 3.5, and it is actually very very nice. Its smoother than ARHD's rendition and havent had lagg yet, ARHD gave plenty of lag (but having had ATK run on screen out was possibly a culprit), though it does chow more memory,
Leaves about 100Mb left for other apps etc. dunno if that can be improved with tweeks, but presently unnecessary havent yet had a prob or run out.. It looks great, using the "bliss" rosie launcher in the bottom screen (two button UI rather than the well known sense arc, and I like it.
Use my phone for work and play, and impressed with the Exchange mail added functionality, improved even on sense 3.0.
Dunno if there is a rom out there that works even better but think i'll stick to RCmix3D runnymede rom for now.
Ps, briefly had CM7.1 installed, it wasnt fun, it didnt make sense, and I didnt want to keep it, so flashed RCmix3D just after, it seems I like sense based roms, even though I would give MIUI more screen time if I get bored. I just NEED more widget options with MIUI, it feels empty, I hate the iPhone experience so dont like android feeling like one big open appdrawer minus widgets, I didn't like that the only widgets available were photo frame, search, android calendar etc, they dont add function.
(I arrange my sense roms as Home (only Digi Clock transparent and 3g watchdog "megs left" widget) > Most Used apps shortcuts > Agenda Widget > Calendar Widget > Weather Widget > Messages Widget > Mail Widget > Home.)
Pps. Thanks Elimentals, I probably moved it into the Tools folder or something like that and didn't know to check...
