HTC DESIRE HD

no they not, time to root your device and install a custom rom
try virtous infinity. some say its very good
otherwise try cm7.2 and put go launcher and the ics theme and the phone will work really nicely

I was just looking for info like this. My DHD is getting a bit long in the tooth now and feel it's time for a custom rom.

Problem though is I need a simple how-to-step-by-step-guide type thing.

People always say go to xda, but it's all random stuffs.

Hey Vodacom, where's my Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade? It's about time, don't you think?

dude ics for the DHD has been cancelled, its been a few weeks now
there are some good fully working custom roms on xda developers forum
its best you root your phone and load one of them, cause dhd owners are not getting ics officially sadly due to htc issues and excuses

I Have a HTC Desire S with same hardware as the DHD. I installed the official ics RUU 2 days ago. After clean installation and backup restore i have 100mb more internal space than with Gingerbread. ICS also use about 10% less ram. I think HTC lied to DHD customers about the internal space and hardware restrictions on the DHD. ICS works very smooth on the Desire S.

dude can u please check for me if you can open a link that has been sent to you via your email or whatsapp?
apparently its not working in the official ics.

and yes. htc lied abt ics for dhd,it could have been done but because of bad financials they decided not to spend time on it

I won't be able to install a custom ROM as my volume-down button isn't working. :-(

Kewl. Can you please tell me how to do that?

From Rom manager there is a option to reboot into recovery if I remember correctly. /you would need to be rooted. I haven't played with HTC much so I am not to sure about things like locked boot-loaders and and S-off etc.
