HTC Diamond - Very Irritated!

Hoo boy. Bizarro.
Have you been angering the demons by being kind and generous? Don't let 'em win!

If I were you my next call would be a polite one to the MD of Leaf - the nicer you are the better your chances of a quick solution (these people are not personally at fault). His secy will probably take the call ... follow it up with the fax and email confirmation of your call. Politely insist that they deliver a new replacement to you at soonest as you are travelling tomorrow afternoon.

Yeah I actually phoned the guy from leaf who I have been dealing with and all i could do was laugh, whereas before I was rather stern and clearly uptight. I just said to him, I can’t believe how unlucky I can be. End of the day I have to go back to Mtn and they will swop it out for a new one. *shakes head and waddles off laughing*

Cant believe it. Must be like an urban myth. SOunds like y brothers story. His boss' nokia e61 (that fat, ugly one) was in repais every second month. everyone else with the phone swears by it. personally, i have two phones. htc p4350 for business and road warrior style work. and my wonderfully slow but functionally break proof 1680 nokia (for clubs, pubs and general drunken escapades).

though i guess if you looked around youd find tonnes of problems with nokias and htcs, but never met a person yet with problems (well, excpet you... in a public forum and we havent met)

So I carted my depressed a$$ back to Mtn, managed to gather up a smile and started to find my situation rather amusing...So eventually after 30 mins, get summoned to the agent, I tell him the story and he gives me a brand new Diamond, but this time I decide to check it first before I leave, and can you believe it, the SAME thing, screen not as bad, but has this nasty yellow tint at the bottom. Luckily the dude realised it to, as I thought I was starting to loose my mind. Anyways, after some discussion I was offered another brand of phone and decided if the next Diamond we open is cooked, then I will settle for the N95 8GB....Anyway opened now the 3rd Diamond, and it was ok and so far all good. All the issues I had with the first unit (this is now the 3rd) seem to be gone, screen also seems to be alot more responsive and precise. Camera now works each time, every time :D Told the dude at Mtn that I hope I never see him again. My lips to gods ears. Funniest part of it all is I kept saying “is this just a really bad phone” and each and every person / consultant was adamant it is a great phone and they never get come backs….Now are they just full of poo or am I just the most unlucky SOB on the face of planet earth…we will see :D

Grim - sorry to hear your sad story re the Diamond - I must say I have not had any probs with my new Diamond and the screen is brilliant (white) - I am enjoying the phone very much and with the upgraded 1.93 rom I have no battery or performance probs

Hope this one turns out fine..

Thanks dude! So far everything seems fine on this one, it came with the 1.93 ROM so no need to upgrade it. Screen looks and feels great, so holding thumbs, I still think it is a great phone.

Yeah finally! But I am still not 100% happy with the one I have now....Sigh

Very happy with the diamond, no yellow lines. Only gripe with the phone is the lack of SA maps

:eek:noooo!!!! why?

Well there seems to be a yellow tint when you tilt the phone and look at an angle. Apparently HTC have changed screen suppliers, or have started to use different suppliers since the first Diamond batch was released, that apparently explains why some screens have a slightly different coloring. The 2nd replacement I got actually had a huge yellow smudge at the bottom which was really not cool. The HTC rep at Mtn was actually pretty shocked by it, but anyway I have decided I am happy with this one, The phone is actually working great, everything running fast and smooth so I am sticking with this puppy yellow tint or not, also my wife has threatened a divorce if I step foot in Mtn again with this phone :D :D

hahaha... My wife also battles to understand my obsession with gadgets/technology...:D When I talk about re booting she thinks I'm taking her shopping for new shoes...:D

I must say that I am really enjoying this phone finally...This one is worlds apart front he first one I got, it is much faster (was using the same ROM on old one), the touch screen is much more responsive, the 1st one I had sometimes wouldn’t pick up touches for love or money even with the stylus, the sound through the headset is ten million times better, and just overall is much much better...I wonder if the first batches they rolled out where a bit buggy?

I officially deem the HTC touch Diamond the biggest piece of Sh*T in the world! I now have nothing good to say about this phone and I will go as far to recommend that no one buy this phone! I couldn’t help but notice that my phone didn’t ring today which is very strange, but dismissed it as “everyone is away for the long weekend blah blah bs blah” Not to mention I got a number of sms’s, so why would there be something wrong? Anyway, I pick my phone up this evening to make a few calls, and all I get when I dial is “beep beep” and nothing happens. I leave it placing it down to the network being down. I try calling my phone and it goes straight to voicemail….I eventually place my sim in my wife’s phone and what do you know, network is working fine, it’s the dam cell phone… I still can’t get it to work, can only send and receive sms’s but for love or money can’t send or receive calls. This is the last straw with this effing phone! I hate it! It has been nothing but a waste of my time from the start!

Jeepers, Grims - this is a real rollercoaster ride with the TD. So sorry you're having such a miserable experience wth the Diamond.
I'm enjoying mine. Works perfectly.

Yeah Arthur it is such a bummer, because everything is designed great on this phone, why cant it just work :(

Itried for probably over an hour last night and eventually I could make a call. I tried my wife’s phone, and my N80 and both worked perfectly, so there is no doubt it is the phone. I am going to put it through its paces today, phone around and see what gives. If it is still playing up I guess I have no option but to return to Mtn again.

@marine1 - Thanks dude, but I will wait for Monday and see what gives.
