HTC Dream for R100 pm

not sure i'm convinced, I think I'll wait for the hero, nothing can compensate for crap battery life and small memory....the two worst things I hate on a cellphone!!!

I personally have my eye on the N97, its stunning and easy to use and has alllll the features, incl the KB

IF anyone has got the phone please check if its network blocked or not???
A person from MTN mailed me and said it is but the call center guy said it isnt?
Also if anyone got the phone, does it kill the IPHONE??? :)

AFAIK no cellphones are allowed to be network locked by law... someone please correct me if I am wrong.

But just as confirmation, I got the phone on this contract from MTN and have been using it on the VC network since, the phone is awesome!

As for killing the iPhone that is a matter of perspective or taste, I had a iPhone 3G for 2 months and didn't like it (lack of background apps killed me) and I have just sent my Xperia X1 in for repairs and I doubt I will be going back to it since I've been using the dream...

Got mine eventually, sim not activated yet. this now after a week.

Swopped my Dream for an iphone 3g 16gb instead.

Hero is seriously gonna affect resale value of Dream

Just a quick update, MTN directs site now shows the Dream as R108 p/m. Luckily my colleague signed up when it was R100...

Possible that it now includes CLI. When I signed up the guy specifically told me that the R100 excludes CLI.

HTC Dream for R100

This sounded too good to be true and was. The Android operating system is a nasty piece of work, and makes the phone essentially dysfunctional. Unless you can root it, a complicated process which Google is continuously making more difficult. Its got wonderful features. The only ones useful are the camera and the GPS (only positioning and speed). It has no office tools like word or spreadsheet. It stays connected to MTN data permanently downloading and uploading who knows what, costing money. Google threaten to upload OTA uploads of 100mb when they feel like it. The wireless networking simply doesn't work. You can't connect to a computer and surf the Internet from the computer at all (no tethering). I've had to buy a pay-as-you-go card to put in to prevent it costing a fortune. It will have to be rooted but there are risks and it takes a huge amount of time. In short, unless you have lots of time and money to waste, total rubbish...

Hope you get yours quickly. Actually I'm also waiting for the Pre, but when are we ever going to get it here in SA?

Finally got it! But thru Autopage, not MTNSP... According to them I only qualified for a R50 postpaid account, not the R100 the Dream was on...

So Autopage delivered it today - pretty snazzy! But after opening and closing it a few times, did I see the bottom right corner (by the Call Send button) has a wear & tear mark - what's up with that???

Pre should be here in Q1 2010 only it seems... Or if you've got some cash lying around, import one from the UK or Germany!

What's the price on the Autopage contract incl. CLIP?

Methinks R133 incl CLIP, AutoSIM and some sundry other charges... But be forewarned - you have to go thru AutoPage for EVERYTHING! If you want GPRS or MMS settings, they send it to you, not MTN... If you want to add/remove services - phone 0860 whatever...

Took it from Autopage bcoz I had to...
