So how long do you reckon it will take for HTC to release a ROM with Android 2.0(1.6)?

Can't you do it yourself? Isn't that the point in having an open source os?

That's the point of having xda-developers Browse over there and pick the ROM of your choosing. I've just downloaded a new ROM for my Diamond 2 - will probably flash later this afternoon.

Sorry for the derail but this is quite important for my future purchasing(maybe gonna get a hero depending on the answer).
So how do you get then the settings for your service provider onto the phone after youve installed a custom rom?

such as the APN for internet? very simple, just enter 'internet' into APN field

mms is a bit more tricky, maybe write down all the mms setting first before flashing. my hero automatically downloaded mms settings from mtn .... was very simple. but not sure what it will do after a custom rom.

also remember, this phone is THAT good that you prob wont want to install a custom rom for quite a while.

So I will be upgrading my phone next month. I had a look around here and here.

I'm looking for something like the Talk 120s but I haven't yet found a deal like this for an upgrade, only on new contracts. So what now? I really don't want a per minute contract nor do I want to pay R800/month for a Talk 500 S contract...

I got the Diamond 2 on a TopUp 300s. Should be able to get a decent phone with a small pay on a Talk 120s.
