I got a HTC Mteor free on my Family top up on Vodacom this week, and i am loving it, but now also getting frustrated. I seem to be unable to get the MMS working. I noticed that the phone could not establish a data connection, whether it be GPRS or 3G. I had a look and saw that there was not settings loaded. Did not stress as i knew with any other phone, you simply load it via OTA settings or you download it. First I phoned Leaf and spoke to a lady and she helped me set it up manually. After that I could log into MSN messenger with the phone etc and send a mms, but for some reason could not receive one, except for when i send one to myself from the Mteor. Then I phoned Vodacom 111 to see if getting the OTA settings from them would make a difference. They said they dont have settings for the MTeor. Then I downloaded the Vodacom settings from the Leaf website...installed it, and still the same problem...can send a MMS, but can not receive one. I only get a notification that i received one if im lucky, but the phone cant seem to download it. I had the same problem when i had a Moto MPX220, but that was a long time ago and thought that the problems with windows mobile would have been sorted by now. Tried to go to the Leaf lifstyle centre in Design quarter today, but they were closed. Please can someone help me? V3G i hope you could maybe respond to this as you are from Vodacom and might know of other customers who had the same problem with a windows mobile device?

PS: I have spoken to 082155 and the guy i spoke to said that since i can send, i should be able to receive, and also the fact that i receive it when i send it to myself made him believe i dont have a problem.

Sounds like your phone does not automatically switch to the MMS apn when you receive a MMS. It's a bit of a bitch to set it up sometimes, in any case if the default settings don't work. And even then you often have to connect manually to download MMS's.

I've never been able to get this to work seamlessly on HTC phones. And I've had most of them......

Where are you based? Can you pop into a local Vodashop?

I can...Eastgate is just down the road from me. I am loving this phone i have to say, even if it is bottom of the range HTC, but the fact that MMS (a standard feature on most phones today) is not working, is starting to irritate me now. I know that the phone needs a ROM update, maybe that will fix it? I have downloaded the latest ROM from the Leaf website, but when i try and do it, the phone comes up with a multi coloured screen and my PC comes up with a Error 262 "Update failed". Phoned Leaf and they said i must rather bring it in as i could damage the motherboard.

Thank you Iam3G. I have already done the following. I have done the settings manually with Leaf on the phone. Then i downloaded the cab file and installed it...then once i saw it was still not working, deleted the settings, reloaded the file, reinstalled it, rebooted the phone, sent myself a MMS as normally recommended by Vodacom to make sure mms gets activated, and then asked someone to send me a mms from a different phone...still not working. I have spoken to other people with different models of HTC...one being the S710, the other with the TYTN, and both are having the same problems....they have actually given up now and accepted that they cant receive MMS. The weird thing is that i can send out, but not receive. I simply get a message to notify me that a MMS is waiting for me, but then when the phone tries to download it, it fails. I have retested my sim in a Nokia....and my MMS works 100% in a Nokia. Any other suggestions? What network are you using? Maybe it is a compatibility issue with Vodacom?

Then theres a setting there somewhere which you are miss looking.

My colleague recently(last week) got the Meteor too. I loaded the Cab File, installed it and it worked 100%.

Don't you maybe want to give oc a call tomorrow and see if you can help him? You two are kinda in the same line....;)

I took my phone to leaf today to have the software upgraded. It now has the latest version ROM. They also installed the settings again for me. What i dont understand is that when the guy sent a test MMS, it came through....i left the shop, got home, got a friend to send me another test MMS...SURPIRSE.....IT DOES NOT WORK!!!!! Get the notification that a MMS is there, but after about 5 minutes, comes up with a message saying that a error occured whilst downloading my message. What network do you use Iam3G? MTN or Vodacom?

UPDATE!: Bought a MTN prepaid sp...loaded the settings, activated MMS....works 100%. Seems it is a HTC - Vodacom issue. V3G....can you reply to this please. Iam3G.....what's your thoughts on this? I will be emailing someone i know in Leaf about this and take them step by step all the things i have done up to tonight and will see what he says.

What type [size] of Vodacom SIM Card have you been using? - no idea if that's the cause, but just wondering if it is related to the problem.

To be honest, its strange to me too.

The fact that you can Send MMS's, means that your MMS is up and running. If you think about it logically, if you couldnt send, then there would definately be something wrong. Plus at the leaf shop a test MMS was sent and received. Have you asked anyone else to send you a MMS?

I forgot to ask my colleague about his Mteor. Will confirm with him tomorrow.

What you actually need to do now is get a cheap Vodacom prepaid SIM as well. Just to test it. If it works 100% with the new Vodacom Prepaid SIM, then its possible that its something on your line. Just be awarre that there is some kind of problem with new activations and some prepaid numbers that cant make calls and data connections and load or check airtime.

IC...i am using a 64K sim. The MTN prepaid sim that i bought today to test it with is a 32k sim. It is rather mind boggling Iam3G. I am waiting for V3G to respond....but the only conclusion that i can come to right now, is that there seems to be some kind of issue with this phone and Voda? Please ask your friend 2moro and let me know. Would be interesting...but remember to ask what network he uses?

Just tested my other Vodacom sim in the phone...my family top up with a data bundle on it...know for a fact that MMS is working on this sim as i tested it in my old Nokia 6680. Put it in the HTC Mteor....and once again i cant receive so it is definately not my line either?
