HTC One X

Also just upgraded from a desire, third HTC in a row. The one x is an amazing phone so far! Had it since Saturday and only slight issue has been getting used to the bigger size.

How do you find the size of it?

It's definitely noticeably bigger than the Desire when using it. I have quite small hands as well, but I can actually use it with one hand, it just feels a lot more secure if I hold it in one and use it with the other. With the Desire, it was not really a problem using it one handed. Anyway after a few hours of using it, I'm already getting used to it (I had some hands on with the Galaxy Note and that is much, much bigger to me)

Some good news : show-p1984 has a stable kernel available. The kernal is called "Bricked" and features a nifty unlocking method

He's also cleaned up a lot of HTC's screw ups in the source and users are reporting it to be completely stable, and smoother than stock. Just waiting to see how much battery has improved

I think this rocks

Sweep2wake is a really nice feature. Just trying it out. Turning on/off the phone by swiping my finger across the 3 capacitive buttons is very handy.

With this deal from MTN - can the MB be topped up with a prepaid card?

I'm about 75% sure that's a negative. As far as i know you will have the data bundle cost added to your month end bill.

I haven't gone to get my device yet but from what i hear it's a lot easier ITO one handed use to sweep2wake than reach for the power button

Got mine! Its so amazing!!! The size is fantastic too!

Yep you're right, although when I signed up I questioned this and the guy behind the counter said that there is the 'running' or 'top-up' option you can choose. Running meaning that costs after your allowance get billed, top-up meaning that if you use your given airtime you need to top up.

I got the top-up option and am super stoked. At least I can manage my usage a hell of a lot better than if it was the other way.

Now all I'm waiting for are the HTC updates for the phone. How long did they take to come through on your guys' One X's?

Picked mine up this morning, 1.28 was already available but not 1.29

By any chance did you compare call rates on running vs top up? i recall the old packages having much heavier rates on top up

Got mine on Tuesday and dropped on Friday!!

It landed flat, face down so no bouncing around. Just a waist high drop square on it's face. Screen shattered. Had that sick feeling of needing to rewind time.

 After reading this I ran upstairs to make sure mine is still safely on my desk. Was yours insured? MTN offered me insurance but i declined. Is it ever really worth it? i wonder.

No, not insured. I dropped it off this morning for them to quote me on getting it fixed. I suspect it will be around R2500.00 but I should know by Tuesday.

What a great phone though.

Sorry for your loss mate... I know the feeling...
It is an awesome phone... Please let us know what it cost to repair... Or what they quote you.... I might be able to help if you dont come right with them...

Insurance. Neh. Probably cost you more than half the hardware cost per month.

One of the first things I get for a new phone is one of those gel covers that goes around the edges, cant even remember how many times I have dropped phones and they have been fine.

Eish, really like the iphone now... Fixed battery, fixed storage and now cracked screens... :(

Went to VC kolonade, they never heard of a HTC one X before and her professional advice was "maybe they selling it overseas". Down the passage MTN is selling the phone and have stock. My upgrade is due next week and I think a move to MTN is on the cards.

dropped my phone today. screen cracked a bit :(

How high did the phone drop from, and onto what surface?

I dropped my Desire a lot and the screen is still OK. I would be devestated if I dropped my One X and it broke :(
