HTC One X

Hey guys, I'm the proud owner of a new One X.
Awesome phone, I see my serial number starts with HT243W... I think I have the WiFi problem, the phone drops signal strength when I put it flat on its back, I'm tethering my desire hd though, so want to test it on a proper router first.
Any tips welcome.

yep. its actually quite distubing. my old desire is way better for wifi. will be contacting mtn corporate tomorrow to see if they can sort it out. phoned leaf, they gave me htc support. phoned htc support and the "technician" (only 1?) was at MTN. He was supposed to call me back on friday but surprise surprise, no call...

Perfect works like a charm!

My brother has the HTC one x and it doesn't seem to have any wifi issues! maybe he got one from a good batch??

His serial number is HT24GWxxxxxx

can you tell us where he got his one x from?

as said before vodacom are getting the one x end june
Does anyone know which is the current cheapest "dump the SIM" contract? i.e. Take the contract (any network) and put the SIM in the safe and just pay off the phone over the 24 months. Vodacom's cheapest for the SIII is R319pm but they don't have the One X and I'm leaning towards One X and tempted to migrate over to Samsung... it's a 51% / 49% situation :D

I'm hoping to find some kind of Top Up 30 package or something tiny where I can pay a total of R250odd a month for the contract + phone over 24 months. Any suggestions? It's either that or a gumtree one for R5k.

HTC confirms wifi antenna problems

so beware, the problem is that the phone works fine (few days to few months) for a period before the problem arises, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688538&page=109solution: Wait for the new ones with the new antenna assembly...

As far as I can see the problem will be with ALL existing HOX's unfortunately as they all have the same assembly, the new production/assembly process is only being implemented from yesterday so it'll be a few weeks (at least) before the fixed HOX's are on the market...

finally HTC
now what about those whoo already have faulty ones? replacements would be the best thing i feel

Wait for the Cell C Straight Up contracts, comes out 22 June. They will have a R30 contract (Pay R30, get 30 minutes PSB, 30 mb data, 30 sms). Then just need to add the price of the phone over the number of months of the contract you sign (Which doesn't have to be 24months, can be anything you choose). So it just depends on when they getting the phone. Hope ASAP :D

Exactly, I want a new one (preferably in white this time ;) )

I watched a great review of the one x and s3 here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijBzWmYnZGI&feature=g-all-u
very objective and leans towards the s3, but the overall feel, look and interface of the htc will win me over. If vodacom can just get their act together sometime this year. Was at vodacom shop cresta on sunday and the sales guy said they have had training on the one x and expect release end of this month, waiting for stock. So guess it might be on the 6 July pricelist.

so its white and grey one x's that are affected? those who have the issue let us know please

They are always *heavily* opinionated but at least he was able to back up why he had those opinions in the review.

Mybb needs to understand that there are MANY specialist reveiws out there (anandtech, gsmarena, engadget, techradar), who are heavily resourced (money, equipment, handsets, etc.). They should focus on giving South Africans something they can't get on other international sites along with the basic spec list analysis. SA OS update history, supply channels, OEM support.

Not sure what the law is, but they should summarize and reference other more equipped sites for their spec analysis.

Wish I saw this thread earlier before getting my phone..

I have the WiFi issue as previously mentioned :(

S/N : HT24HWxxxx

Sorry to hearn
Call HTC support as they say, let's see what they will do to fix it. We need to see how fast their response is, but I'm sure they will fix it for you

My phone is still within the 7 day exchange period, but getting a new phone might not solve the issue.

What should I do in this case, I don't want to hand the phone back and wait until the new batch gets here while paying for my contract.

I was thinking to get it in writing that my phone will be exchanged when the new problem free batches get here, am I pushing my luck with that idea?
