Is the battery life on the Diamond really that bad? Do you guys find it unbearable?
It is not that bad, I charge it every evening as a matter of habit and never had a problem.
Just a question, doesnt chraging it when it's not flat mess the battery up?
No it will not as it is a Lithium-ion battery.
Probably the coolest phone on the planet at the mo. I had the Leaf rep show me one the other day and it is really a stunning piece of hardware.just noticed the htc touch diamond tonight and it looks like a very cool phone.

The touch flo works pretty damn well and doesn't seem to lag, is responsive and easy to use once your used to it which shouldn't take longer than 4-5hrs...
Apparently when 3G is switched on the battery runs flat after 2 hours which is weak... I believe there is a new long life battery on the market...
What I'm not sure about though is the screen, not covered under warranty so a cracked screen will set you back 3k to replace and for that reason alone I wouldn't get the Diamond...
I have finally decided I am going to get the Touch Diamond over the i780 & W960i....I think I can learn to deal with the shocking battery and smudge marks all over (although my N80 doesn’t do great in the smudge department either). I am a little worried that I get the moer in with not having a keyboard; however I just watched a video on texting on the Diamond and it really looks very easy, even with your finger. I am a WM & Touch phone virgin so I am hoping I am making the right choice and have a pleasant experience![]()

Its the first WM phone ive used for longer than a week, so youll be fine dont worry!the keyboard works well, although it irritates me on Mxit. Youll have to give it some slack though, its not a Nokia or SE.
The on screen virtual keyboards of these touch screen devices, for me anyway lacks, that tactile feel of an authentic keyboard which I find very disconcerting when typing messages. But I must say the on screen keyboard on the Diamond is the best performing of the lot and from a design/style, ergonomically and aesthetic appeal I find the Diamond absolutely stunning!!!
Do you know if you can text in landscape mode on the Diamond?
O and another question which I couldnt really gather from the reviews, is can you charge the phone just by plugging it into your laptop? Thanks![]()
That the standard battery shipped with the phone?
Battery is fine even with 3G on.
Never tried landscape text, but it charges off any USB connection including my Asus W5F laptop.
Sniff, I really miss the Diamond. I don't think I can bear the deprivation any longer and might well find myself involuntarily getting another from the Leaf shop. It's the perfect device for me, other than lack of 3G in USA and no standard audio jack.
Yip saw that mod on xda forums... Regarding the touch Flo is froze a few times but that was a while ago I just switched it off and back on again and no problems since then. Battery is fine even with 3G on. I do charge it every night with a HTC charger from the Tytn because the silly charger chord is very short. The charger is cool it has this HTC glow when its plugged in... its a short USB cable that plugs into a plug to make a charger. I think all phones these days charge in USB mode. There wasnt a pouch in the box, I expected that as all othet HTCs come with pouches, and also no cloth, I just make do with the HTC touch pouch and an E90 cloth, but a branded HTC Touch Diamond one would have been better!
Another porblem I found compared to the iPhone, when on a call the iPhone switches off, the HTC screen just goes blank but a soft touch switches the phone back on.
Yes.Do you prefer the Diamond to the i780?
Yes.
Reasons:
* Smaller, thinner, narrower, shorter - just the right form factor for me. I don't want or need a keyboard as I seldom text - my heaviest keyboard use is typing urls and passwords
* Gorgeous 480x640 screen
* WM6.1 Pro
* The whole implementation of WM seems better, more stable, less quirky than on i780 - probably HTC's better experience in doing WM devices
* That gravitometer-accelerometer thingy
* Though I have some issues with TouchFlo 3D configurability, flexibility and performance, it's without doubt a superb plug-in ... I see everyone is producing clones of it on cooked ROMs. Though at first I disliked TF3D, I took the trouble to learn it and now I miss it.
* Standard mini-USB cable for power/PC connect (though I bemoan lack of standard 2.5/3.5 audio jack)
The i780 has superior audio (the TD is tinny and a bit muted for my taste), and it takes a microSD. For the time being I can live with 4GB storage on the TD.
Confession of succumbing to tech-lust: I'm off to get another TD today. Don't tell the wife, please.
hehehe... Arthur you make a compelling argument for the TD, I detect a salesman in the making or are you already one?Enough saidOrdered mine today, cant wait!!
Try not drop this one in the toilet!!![]()
