HTC Touch Diamond

Often phones look more glamorous in the TV ads designed to sell them. I can honestly say the Diamond in the flesh, is as good if not better than how it's portrayed in the TV ad. It's simply a stunning and magnificent piece of hardware...

Point taken, but I was implying the TV ad does the phone justice. :)

I've seen the advert too. The selling point for me was when they turned the phone upside down to reject a call. Sure, it's something simple and I probably wouldn't use it much, but it's too cool to resist :P

So now the question is...what the most economical way of purchasing it? Cash, a certain contract or what?

ad just came up now and the htc touch diamond starts looking better and better with each ad.

they just showed the phone at italk cellular for R384 a month or there abouts.

Probably asked before, but I'm sorry I don't have time to read the thread at this point in time. Can it run mxit?

Yip not VERY well But I survive... Touchscreen takes some getting used to! It can run any java application.

good question as i was also interested in the phone but wondered to about mxit.

Comparison between HTC Touch Diamond and Apple iPhone: GSMArena

It eats the iPhone. :D

Ye I think so to... But people think im talking crap when I tell them......... If only it came in different colours!!

Has it arrived? Called in sick yet?

BTW, I got another. The i780 is back in the box, and the Diamond is set up and configured. Glad to have a decent system again.

I am sitting here patiently waiting for it, the courier guy phoned me just now and said he is delivering it today....and if he doesn’t there will be once less courier guy driving around that’s for sure :D

Arthur - Keep this one safe! IE don’t sit down for a number one whilst tired and with Diamond in pocket :D :D Stand up for your rights!

I have just spent the past hour and a half with my new TD and there is really only one word to say - OMG WOW! Ok those two phrases, broken up makes more than one word. anyway! This has to be the most amazing phone I have ever seen. It should of however been called the Smudge Diamond due to its nature of attracting tons of finger marks, but it means nothing really as this is the best phone i have ever laid my hands on!! Ok have to go, gotta play! :D ;)

I am glad to see happy comments on the diamond. If read a few reviews that give a very negative view. All complained it is very slow. I'm waiting for the touch pro of SE X1 though.

Time goes by so slow when one have to wait for something.....

I was very worried getting this phone because of the negative reviews on the speed, and i have even seen videos on the touch where it is SO SLOW! HOWEVER I am glad to say the device I got came with the latest ROM and it is far from slow, it is perfect and precise actually, I have noticed any speed issues even with Touch Flow 3D on. Alot of the reviews done on the TD where 1st gen ROM's which apparently sucked! So glad it got sorted..;)

Cool. I hope that I don't go mad of waiting for the touch pro. Predictions is that it's coming in September or October. :)

I was also going to wait for the Pro, however after seeing a vid on how thick it was i changed my mind...After having the chunky N80 I was desperate for a thin phone...Biggest issue for me was the no keyboard on the Touch Diamond, however I am pleasantly surprised that it is extremely easy to use....Personally I am not sure that the Touch Pro is worth it just for the bulky qwerty keyboard.

My son (at college in California) has flashed his Diamond (bought in SA) with the latest Elite 3.0 ROM on XDA-Developers. He says the speed improvement is dramatic, and the new radio gives him Edge at least (even though he has an AT&T data package). For my part I happily live with the current TF3D, though I have installed the TF3 Config tool and eliminated the tabs I don't use. I've also installed SPB Pocket Plus because it allows me to customise the X button (Close/Minimise) and adds support for ZIP and file encryption -a carry-over from previous WM devices. I also use the battery level indicator bar at the top. I just wish there was a way to embed GPRS Monitor in the Today screen so I can get realtime display of 3G connect speed, usage and cost.

The date on my ROM is 6/18/2008 - I wonder if this is the latest, I am going to investigate when I have a chance...But I really am not having any speed issues luckily.

I just installed that Gsen app and man what a pleasure!! I can now text in landscape ;)
