HTC Touch Diamond

Just a question regarding downloads and costs - Those that have the phone and use the weather feature, what does it cost to get the updates every day? I am a bit of a noob when it comes to data downloading and the costs involved and I really don’t want to send my phone bill through the ceiling :D ;)

P.S - cant it update via Wifi?

My data bill came to R1300!!:o
Stay away from Youtube!
I have the weather on a manual setting so I request when I need to know the weather. Another thing is the data connection stays on once you started a session, you have to manually disconnect.

Im sure it can!

 That’s hectic! I will have to use the weather feature sparingly.

...errr...and that has what to do with the WEATHER? Obviously youtube will use a crapload of data...however i can't imagine the weather thingy being that intensive unless they literally stream cloud formation and satelite images to your phone?....

In short : If it's mainly -text- , i wouldn't worry too much about it. If it's images + video + sound, i would watch out.

It doesn't - depends on the source they're pulling the information from but I doubt it would be more than 500kb a day at most. I have Spb Weather installed and, even updating 4 or 5 times a day it doesn't use more than 100kb in a week.

If you want to track your usage (a must for me), check out Spb GPRS Monitor - it will keep track, monitor your speed and give you preset warnings when your usage is high. I don't know how well it would integrate into the TouchFlo 3D environment, but you can get it to run in the taskbar as well.

Thanks for the info......I see Spb GPRS Monitor is USD 19.95  Anyone know of any freeware apps floating around?

Mxit setup

Please can somebody give a mXit setup for vodacom users? please im dying here without mxit lol! Thanks!

Just a question - does the time it takes to charge the phone make a diff if you charging off USB vs Plugging it into the wall?

Whats the difference between the diamond and the pro?

What DIAMOND have and PRO not:
-4GB onboard memory but no memory card slot

What PRO have and DIAMOND not:
-Bigger battery than diamond(1340mAh vs 900mAh)
- more ram and rom (pro:288MB ram/512MB rom where diamond: 192MB ram/256MB rom)
-qwerty keybord (5 rows)
-miniSD card slot
-flash for camara
-tv-out with optional cable
-And rumor have it some extra things in Touchflo3D

USB ports are not able to give much current. That is also why most 2.5" portable drives have 2 usb plugs, so that it can pull power from 2 ports.

My current Sony Ericsson show charging when plugged in with my usb data cable but charge next to nothing.

Like chalk and cheese

For me the Diamond has one major advantage over the Pro: thinness. I'm through with thick.
Pro: 18.1mm
Diamond: 11.5mm

+1 - And the pro looks pretty dam thick  If I had to wait till the end of the year for a phone for its qwerty keyboard I would consider the Xperia, looks thinner.

With regard's to the charging, had my phone charging off my pc last night which took forever and still didn’t seem to be full....Will try the mains charger and see if it is quicker.

Damn it, my contract talk 500 has been up for renewal since March.

I would highly recommend the Diamond ;)

I was also going to wait for this, and wait for that but decided if I keep waiting around for the next best phone I will never get one ;)

Well not only the weather, the weather doesnt use to much data, I base that statement on the time it takes to download the weather on a gprs connection, I assume its 10 - 20kb per location, I have 4 locations.
My responce to grim was just to becareful about playing with all the features and just to keep in mind the bill at the end of the month. I abused mine so just thought ill give him a heads up! Oh and Google maps loads super fast and chows data!!

Also weight plays a big factor, the Diamond is only 110g, iPhone,X1, Pro are all over or around 150g. Means something to me!
