HTC Touch Diamond

Software

Do any of you guys know where i can find some nice free Apps on the net for my Diamond? Thanks

Hey guys.
Here is one of the best reviews for the diamond
Thanks.
Pretty fair review, I thought. This is the US model for T-Mobile, which has less memory than the SA/Euro version (192MB vs 256MB).
The 1.93 ROM upgrade significantly improves TF3D performance. I'm travelling to the US tomorrow and will use the TD on data on various networks - might have to flash a new radio to use 850 (AT&T) ...

After initial hesitation with TF3D I now really like it, and with tools from XDA-Developers one has added customisation options. Also, with Voice Activation I can dial contacts and start apps by speaking simple commands to the phone, which makes one-hand glasses-free operation much easier.

I've actually grown to like the TD more and more over the 7 weeks I've had it, and that's a good sign, because with previous devices I quickly grew weary of their shortcomings. I can't see myself going back to anything thicker/fatter or with less functionality.
Already looking forward to its successor, which I hope keeps the form factor and doubles performance, power, memory, etc.

How's the HSDPA performance of this phone if you're using it as a modem connected to your desktop / notebook?

Works pretty well when using PDANet to establish the connection. I had some issues while using internet sharing on the phone as it seemed to drop the connection quite often.

so i went to go and pick up my HTC diamond at MTN today, and after 2 weeks of browsing and emailing and speaking to mtn, they tell me I have to up my sub by over R100/month. yes. irritating. they initially told me the phone is free on a procall220 and then when i get to the desk they tell me i have to up my monthly payments. they can rot for all i care. this is the last straw with MTN, im now going to finish my contract and change to Vodacom. at least they dont lie!

You say MTN. By that do you mean a MTN shop or what? A lot of people generalize by saying mtn or vodacom. They are just the operators. The MTN shop, Vodacom shop, Nashua Mobile,Autopage, etc are the service provider. The service provider is the good or bad. I'm on mtn contract with Nashua Mobile and never had any problems in the 4 years I have been with them.

You lucky!!! I've had nothing but **** service from Nashua but better the devil you know and therefore I persevere with them. I think the hard truth is just about every service provider out there is pretty sucky....It's a hit and miss affair, you might get great service from Nashua while I may not etc etc etc

Hi,

When I connect my HTC Touch Diamond via the USB cable to my computer (Vista, therefore WMDC) it connects but it then disconnects every time my HTC's screen turn off.

Any help on this?

Thank you.

MTN SP by the way.

How is the navigation on this device? I read the google maps is not that practical as it downloads each page and it does not 'guide' you as if you were in a car.

Has anyone installed any GPS software such as TomTom? Please PM me if you have any information on how to get tomtom onto your device with South African maps.

thanks

I phoned tomtom and they recon there is no software of theirs for south africa and the touch diamond yet ... thus they dont want to sell me anything ...

i installed tom tom 6 on it and it sowrks , but you have to enter an activation code for the maps , which i couldnt do / buy ...

Thanks for the info!

I did see that there is a nifty pouch that you can buy separately which actually cleans off the finger prints as you insert and take the phone out of the pouch. I really can’t wait for my phone!!! :D

Just got mine yesterday :D
Where'd you see this pouch? I had a look around the vodashop i got it from, but they didn't have any...
