HTC Touch Diamond

Yup, I know what you mean. Dutty just released V2.9...

Dutty 2.8 was released about 10 days ago. maybe he had some problems witn 2.8. I had 2.8 on my diamond very good rom... but i prefer the normal task manager from htc. and that is the only reason why i dont run it on my diamond

Let me know what you think of it and how it compares with Aztor. I don't have the cap to download all the ROMs I'd like to try unfortunately.

I dont like aztor rom at all. very sluggish. I tried diamond project this weekend, the rom looks good with the different buttons, but i must say I still prefer SwiftBL-WWE-Diamond-v7-5-Lite-12MbPP it is clean, fast and very stable.

Yes, I know what you mean. I don't like the standard task manager and X button action. I've always loaded the SPB apps, including Pocket Plus, so I can tailor the X button to close apps on single tap. Tap & hold drops down a (customisable) menu with options like Close, Close All, Minimise, Minimise All, Settings, etc, etc. I also need Pocket Plus for the file encryption and ZIP support -- I have about 30 compressed and encrypted files.

If the Touch HD arrives today or tomorrow I won't bother with Dutty's 2.9...

Which Dutty 2.9 did you flash? The MSVC or the CVSD? Just asking as I don't know too much about those programmes.

Guys, I've downloaded some Quicktime files (.mov) as well as a Flash Video file (.flv). What can I use to play these on my Diamond since Media Player won't play these?

Total Core Media Player. Do a search on google for the TCMP cab file and you should have some luck because I think the developers discontinued it.
Not sure if it plays .flv files though, will have to check.

So, I've been wondering what people think of this phone...
Is it as good as all the hype it gets?

It is a good phone. but you need to flash a better rom. The HTC stock rom isnt very good. Cooked roms are the way to go. (that is just my opinion)

I'm using the Touch Pro, which is a slight upgrade on the Diamond but the software is more or less the same(GSM Arena's review did mention that the Touch Pro has a few bug fixes). I am using the stock ROM but I have used applications like Advanced Configuration Tool to tweak some of the settings on my phone. I have absolutely no problems with the stock ROM. As for the extra applications that do come with cooked ROMs I have already installed all the apps that I require on the phone on the stock ROM and I've also changed the theme/look of the UI with the help of an application called Diamond TF3D Config.

Personally I think that this class of phone is great out of the box, but I can't give a 100% recommendation on the Diamond because the Pro and the Diamond do have a few hardware and software differences.

How is this rom for you?
Hi EddG. Regrettably I can't say -- I flashed in the MSVC version, formatted the internal storage, packed the TD into its box and sent it off this morning to my brother. I spent 10 mins doing some setup and installations (Skype, MS Reader, Pocket eSword, Google Maps, WIMP, etc and it sure felt responsive.

Now waiting for Dutty to start cooking for the Touch HD...

Thanks! I've found the file on the xda-developers forums. Last question: how do I install the player from the CAB file onto my HTC Diamond?

Take the cab file and copy it to your diamond. On your diamond, use file explorer to go to where you placed it. Then just click on it and it will install itself. You'll see it in Programs once you've installed it.
