HTC Touch HD

So what if it isn't available? Someone will release a fully featured version of WM 6.5 for the THD.

Yes no doubt there will be unofficial WM6.5 versions out for the THD,however i am not to keen on cooked ROM's,would prefer an official ROM

Yeah well it does kind of suck of Microsoft. They used to be ok with upgrading WM devices didn't they?

Well i remember when i had my HTC TyTN 1 - which came with WM5.0 - a free upgrade to WM6.0 was provided, and when i had my HTC TyTN 2 - which came with WM6.0 - a free upgrade to WM6.1 was provided,so i don't understand why all of a sudden there will not be any upgrades to WM6.5 made available.

I got the HTC from VC but instead of the pay in of 5,299 I negotiated (pleaded) down to 4,600. They wouldn't budge another 100 to 4,500. Worth a try so go for it guys.

I dont think there will be any official WM6.5 for the HD,apparently Microsoft made a public announcement that WM6.5 will not be made available to any WinMo devices currently on the market !

I HATE MICROSOFT !!!
You've got the wrong end of the stick. Microsoft have NEVER released ROM upgrades for WM devices. WM is an OEM-only product, because it always requires the addition of hardware-specific device support. This is the responsibility of the hardware vendor. There is no such thing as a generic WM for devices. Releasing ROM upgrades to new versions of WM is wholly and entirely the decision of the device makers, in this case HTC -- not Microsoft. In fact, Microsoft privately urges and even pleads with the device makers to offer WM upgrades, but so far most of them prefer to entice buyers to new hardware.

HTC have already announced that the Diamond2 and some others will get a ROM upgrade to WM6.5. Since the THD is their flagship PDA, it's quite likley that they'll do one, but that's just speculation.

But, as John Dvorak points out in his latest column, you'll probably hate Microsoft anyway.

hhhm, does anybody know when the THD will be avaliable from MTN directly. Am really not keen on Nashua/Autopage...

I never said Microsoft released or will release ROM upgrades,i know that ROM updates are provided by the hardware vendors, however they apparently made a statement that WM6.5 will not be made available to any device currently on the market.I suppose we will just have to wait and see what HTC decides.

What John Dvorak points out is very true,i never thought of it like that.

Thanks fot the info psavv. Where did you go, to Vodaworld or a VodaShop? Did you have to pay them the R4,600 then and there, or do they add it to your next invoice?

HELP !!! Please...
How can I change the sync settings so that my contacts and calendar sync with non-standard folders, like "Mobile Contacts" instead of "Contacts"?

HTC touch HD Garmin voice problems

I can't get Garmin giving voice prompt navigation on my HTC touch HD! Anybody having the same problem perhaps?

Second question: Where can I buy a silicone glove for the HTC touch HD? Have been to Vodaworld and nothing available!

GMXT voice prompts work fine on my THD. Since upgrading the radio firmware GMXT no longer shows sat status - this is a known problem with GMXT and should be fixed in the next release.

These are now available at Vodaworld at the Vodashop. Bought mine yesterday (Body Glove) for R99.

Question for the knowlegeable types out there, my Bluetooth seems to just turn-off randomly. (The battery runs down to about 25% so don't think it is this)

I don't know if this is deliberate (one of MS's "features" you really want), or a bug.

Other than that this phone is the best I've ever had.
