HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

Is it possible to phone a MTNSP outlet and put in an order in for a TyTn or is there some other way that one can ensure that one will be in line for one of the first available?

Thanks

Good day,

You can try maybe phone one of the service centres and speak to the senior lead and see if they can reserve one for you......

MTNDD

Can anyone tell me what the real difference between the K-JAM and HTC TyTN. I can see connection speeds will be faster as it has HSDPA and 3G. I am sure that’s a big plus if you in the right area.

How big a difference is the processor speed in real working terms? Is it twice as fast? Is it a bit faster? The only other difference I can see is the camera. I am also not sure if K-JAM comes with pocket office? Word Excel etc.

can anyone tell me if there is any difference between UMTS and HSDPA

UMTS is "Universal Mobile Telecommunications System" which defines 3G using W-CDMA. HSDPA is just further refinements of 3G to increase downlink data speeds.

Cacell

Cacell (www.cacell.co.za) dropped their price from R8950 -> R8650 -> R8500. Maybe someone should take an order for those willing to pay this sorta price upfront and negotiate a dicount on a bulk sale!!!

Comments?

Cacell are insane with there prices.. You must be an idiot or really desperate or RICH to buy from them.. Wonder hom much profit they make?!

Hell noo..
Then i will rather buy directly from UK.

is UMTS as fast as HSDPA, my phone shows its connected at UMTS and I am not sure if that means I am getting HSDPA

UMTS could indicate 3G or HSDPA, you will have to look at the data transfer speed. If it is greater than 40kB/s its HSDPA.

heck i was getting 60kb/s downloaded speed in my area for the first time today and i mean 475mb isnt exactly a small file-i nearly fell over :p
but yes all good things come to an end, back on 9kb/s:mad:

cool.. cant wait to get my hands on the phone.. aah.. time is my enemy! oh and work and money! :D

Quiting smoking and waiting for a phone you been wanting the whole time are killing me.. :D hehehh

Most of these threads indicate that the are fair amount of people waiting for this device. We all know the current price at Leaf and Cacell. Leaf is still the cheapest if one is willing to outlay that sort of capital. Which begs the question, what is the current expectation from the MCO's. Why would you purchase from them?

dono, just want to get it on contract coz i need to upgrade anyways. I dont want to buy it seperate.

will be a mad scramble for the phones when released ey?
will be like that iron maiden concert in 94 at the std bank arena- saw people camping outside for tickets that day :p

Hey Everyone, below is an email from Leaf concerning the email notification problem on the HTC TyTn when used on the VodaCom network. I hope VodaCom sort this out.

********************

Dear Customer,

This is a common problem with Vodacom. There are two types of notification for your voice mail messages. The phones only support the new version; and Vodacom only uses the older version. As soon as Vodacom upgrades to the new notification type they will come through to the phone; but until then there isn’t much of a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience; however this is not a permanent problem.

Hi Ari

Do you currently get no notification of SMSs or is there another type of problem on Vodacom?

Does MTN have the same type of problem?

Thanks
