Hi, so I'm still stuck way back on b123 that comes stock with the P7s from Vodacom. I wanted to update it but I'm having lots of issues. I saw that I have to download several in order to go up to Lollipop. So I started with B133SP01, which for some reason won't install via either local update or the three-button-method. Using the latter it just fails to verify the update package.

Can someone please help a non-tech savvy person out with how to do this?

Just checked, my daughter's p7 is running b839 and emui 3.1. I'll try remember what the actual steps were. And post it.

Thanks man, it would be greatly appreciated. There are a lot of tutorials for getting the phone from B6xx to B8xx, but it seems with builds as old as mine (B123 ) you're out of luck trying to figure it out on your own. Especially because it seems we're dependent on Vodacom for our updates.

Yeah, I tried that one too. I tried the three-button method and it goes into recovery mode, faffs around a bit while verifying the package and then it just tells me that it failed. :(

At this point I am utterly stumped. I even went to Vodacom and they told me I'm not supposed to be able to update it because that voids my warranty. I strongly suspect the custom rom Vodacom put on it is at fault here. Wouldn't be surprised if they disable your ability to update because they don't want to deal with bricked phones. They offered to send it in for me, but then it's gone for two weeks and I have no guarantee that I'll get Lollipop. I'll get whatever the service centre has available.

The boys' P7's are from Telkom so I'll check this weekend if this upgrade will work on one of their phones.

They make such awesome phones, but are way too slow with getting onto newer versions of Android. Really a pity, but that is why I ditched Huawei for Motorola.

Have you perhaps tried this yet. I managed to download it but still need to try the upgrade on my kids' phones. Will attempt this weekend maybe.

Once you unzip the file then the instructions are also given.

Finally got some time to do the upgrade and it worked very well. Very simple to do, followed the instructions and took maybe 30 minutes. P7 now officially on Android version 5.1.1. Now just the do the other one's P7.
