I'd like to get a Huawei E272 on a Top-up 75 contract, is this possible, and how much would I have to chip in?

I had a look on www.vodacom.co.za, but it only seems to be available on data contracts and I'd like to stick to PPDBs.

The pay-in would be around R1300 on a Top-Up 75. You might as well just buy it cash and use it on prepaid.

You could also go the MTN route and get a E270 (no external antenna connector) for a R400 pay-in. I assume the price would be the same for new contracts as it is for an upgrade.

 I expected that much from Nashua Mobile, but not from Vodacom SP.

Yeah, I see that on MTN's MyChoice 75 Top-up I can get the E270 for a R400 pay-in and the E800 for R300 pay-in, thereafter R75 per month. Does the E270 definitely not have an external antenna connector? I know the E272's is cunningly concealed.

Iam3G is that your final answer, or would you like to call a friend?

Nope, the E270 definitely doesn't have a connector - at least not one that's mentioned in the manual or remotely easy to find without voiding the warrenty in the search.

Look on vodacom.co.za and phone a few of the dealers and see what they can offer.

Must say, ginggs would feature quite high on on the nomination list for the "V3G award for best forum contribution", but it's still a few months off :)
Thank you.

I could find nothing apart from the data contracts on vodacom.co.za. I visited a couple of Vodashops over the weekend, with unconvincing results.

At the first one I visited, I was told I could get the E272 on a Top-up 75 contract with a pay in of R1269 with free SIM and connection.
Then they said I might have to pay R105 for the SIM and R97 for the connection fee, but they weren't sure.
The monthly payment would be R84.50 including CLI. I asked if the CLI was optional and was told it was, and that I would only pay R75 incl VAT without it.

The second one also told me the pay in would be R1269 and that the SIM and connection fee would be R202, but if I brought my own pre-paid SIM to the party, I wouldn't have to pay for a new SIM. They couldn't tell me how much I less I would pay if I did provide my own SIM though.
When I asked how much I would pay monthly I was told it would be the standard R75, and then after a pause, except for the mandatory CLI which would bring it to "80 something".

I must say this experience has not made me want to rush out and sign up for a Vodacom contract; if the people filling in the contract forms don't know exactly what I'm signing for, how could I possibly I know?

I would also love to hear from Vodacom how they justify a pay-in price difference of nearly R1000 when compared with a seemingly similar contract from MTN.
