Huawei E3276 150Mbps LTE USB Modem

That's good news, but I still cannot get mine to register on the Vodacom 3G network. I can discover all the networks in my area but as soon as I try to register it, the Huawei Mobile Partner software indicates registration denied. I wonder if my SIM card is ok for this modem. It is a 64kb SIM and it works in the Huawei E3131 3G modem without problems.

Any ideas ?

Is your APN in Mobile Partner correct? I think it should say 'internet' for Vodacom.

Ok, got it fixed now.

Problem was Network setting on Auto tried to connect to LTE and my SIM card was not LTE enabled yet.

All working now. Thanks for the tips.

The LTE APN needs to be lte.vodacom.za

According to Google, the E3276s-150 does not support the TM LTE network:
HUAWEI E3276s-151 and E3276s-150: (Vodafone K5007 and Megafon M150-1)
* 4G LTE FDD (DD800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz)
* 3G UMTS 900/1900/2100MHz
* GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz

TM LTE requires TDD 2300MHz. Looks like Afrihost has not sent you the model that matches the specs on their website.

This is what I am now going to goto Afrihost and moan about. I have taken my TM sim and placed it in a working TM LTE modem, this seems to connect. Once I remove it and place it into the E3276-150 it does not.

I hope Afrihost comes to the party here and supplies the correct modem.

Huawei E3276 Firmware

Hi Everyone,

I have an unbranded Huawei E3276 used with a Telkom Mobile Data SIM.

Now I see that there are different variations of E3276 LTE Modems and my model doesn't support TM's LTE 2300MHz Frequency. I know this is a long shot, but is it possible for the Modem to be flashed with a different firmware from one that supports the frequency or is it a hardware thing?

Thanks for the replies.

Nope not possible :( --- Purchase their LTE Router at Edgars Mobile for R1 999 :)

Have one of these spare..

I've just upgraded the firmware on my Cell-C E3276-150 from 1geoff99's links here.

The modem was supplied with firmware version 21.192.13.00.00.
First I upgraded to Huawei E3276s-920 21.260.03.00.00 normal.
Then I upgraded to Huawei E3276s-861 21.436.03.00.00 Universal.

It appears that the firmwares of the E3276 are interchangeable and you do not have to find one that matches your exact model number, e.g. -150.

^DIALMODE has now changed from 1,2 to 2,3 meaning both Modem and NDIS modes support CDC specification.
The device now appears as a serial modem and a network interface in Windows.
In Ubuntu Trusty, the modem now works with the stock kernel and ModemManager "out-of-the-box". With Modem-Manager-GUI (in the Ubuntu repositories) I can check signal strength and check balances with USSD, SMS, etc.

Edit: After upgrading the firmware I found the connection would go dead in Windows after a several minutes; in Linux it was fine for hours.
I upgraded my Huawei drivers from 4.25.11.0 to 5.01.06.00 (available here - thanks 1geoff99!) and all seems to be well.

E3276 vs E392

Can anybody please tell me which one is better or a comparison between the two. I need to know which one to get for 2300 freq LTE

E3276 is newer and is theoretically faster (150 Mbps vs 100 Mbps).

For 2300 LTE you could get either the E3276s-601 (FDD 1800/2600 Mhz and TDD 2300 Mhz) or the E3276s-920 (TDD 2300/2600 MHz).

You can get a E3276s-601 here for about R643 and a E3276s-920 here for about R402.

Note that the E3276s-601 will support Telkom, MTN and Vodacom LTE while the E3276s-920 will only support Telkom LTE. Both will support all SA 3g bands.

Thanks alot for the response... have you purchased from any of those vendors before? How long does it usually take?

I've bought 6 LTE modems from eBay. They took about 3-5 weeks to arrive. Sometimes I had to pay about R100 import duties.

Edit: I have used this vendor without any issues.

Is R643 considered a bargain or is that the going price?

I see prices ranging from ~R700 to ~R2500.

If the lowest price you can find is R700, then it must be a bargain :)

Afrihost was selling the E3276s-601 for R1696 (but is now out of stock).

Orange Store is selling the E3276s-150 for R1920 (but this model is not compatible with Telkom LTE).

Edit: Anyway, I don't think anyone in SA is selling the E3276s-601 model, which is the most desirable model for SA users since it covers all commonly used 3G and 4G bands in SA except for Cell C LTE.

Huawei e3276 LTE modem (which one?)

I'm aiming to buy the e3276 modem and data from Afrihost or TM for use on their LTE networks.
Looking at:
http://www.digitalgr8ness.com/shop/huawei-e3276-150mbps-cat-4-lte-3g-modem.html

States 1800 and 2300mhz is supported. So I should be covered for both providers right?
Never bothered with wireless before so I have no idea what the specs mean.
For the above modem is LTE supported only on the 2300mhz band?
And 1800mhz (MTN) only for 2G? How does that work out if MTN are using that band for LTE?

The reason I'm buying is because Afrihost still don't have stock on LTE modems.
And Telkom want me to sign a 2 year contract.

I see, thanks.
I was getting confused with the specs on that site, but this site clears it up for me.
http://www.store4g.com/huawei-e3276/
Showing the LTE bands for different models.

Do you know by chance what model Telkom provides?
Looks like it's either the 861 or 601.
