Huawei E3276 150Mbps LTE USB Modem

It seems that this modem that Telkom are selling is not suitable for their LTE TDD @ 2300MHz network.
There same was with Cell C. They didn't specify for their white/black dongles UMTS 900MHz, they just copy/pasted standard modem configuration, not a customisation option.

The Cell C E3276 = E3276s -150

Just like HUAWEI E398 and E392, HUAWEI E3276 also has many variants models, such as HUAWEI E3276s-150, HUAWEI E3276s-151, HUAWEI E3276s-152, HUAWEI E3276s-210, HUAWEI E3276s-500, HUAWEI E3276s-601 and HUAWEI E3276s-920 etc…They support different frequency bands to meet the requirement of various operators in many countries or areas. HUAWEI E3276s-151 should be the most popular model, because it supports the popular 4G LTE Spectrums all over the world: 800/900/1800/2100/2600 MHz. And it has been presented to the public by the provider Megafon (Model Number: M150-1) and Vodafone( Modem Nuber: Connect Pen K5007)

I went to telkom direct / 8ta store both said they will have the modems in stock end of the month.

Hopefully by then 8ta will have some other high-end packages on offer at a competitive launch price.

Damn, wanted to buy a E5776 router, then found it did not have an ethernet, network port.

Now it appears, that the E3276 modem does not support 8ta's LTE Band.

What to do ...

Again the 8ta rep today said the e3276 allows lte access in store. Must work. Willing to go buy one and take back if it doesn't work. Will probably try over the weekend. Wish me luck.

Good luck. :)

As sajunky wrote, problem is most likely with the information on the website:

I'll wish you luck, 8ta's webpage description, does not include 2300 MHz support, so either they are selling a modem that will not work on their network, or they are going to change the frequency they are going to deliver LTE on.

I bought an E392 with TDD 2300 MHz for use with 8ta.

But now it does not look as if 8ta are going to have decent LTE packages :(

Their Smart Internet package - 15Gig. for R399.00 is not to bad, not a bargain mind you, but better than anything else, I have found ... , SIM only deal, and I do believe you can go month to month as well with this deal.

Hi,

Picked up "Dovado" on this thread when the 8ta E3276 was discussed and got a 10+10 R299 (R3xx) package from the Telkom Shop in Tygervalley + the E3276 - planning to get rid of my R800pm "Faster" which @TelkomZA ^Charl managed to twek to 3.7 down and .43 up after poor 1.7/whatever since 2007.

Works well when plugged into a PC or my Laptop but I managed to get a DOVADO PRO from same guys in Germany but having problems getting it to work. Firmware upgrades on the Pro shows that the E3276 is being used with it but getting 8ta to fork seems to be not so straight forward.

It sees it as a E3276, asks for Country - South Africa and then option for all the sp's here 8ta is there and then the PIN which is on the bigger card of the 10+10 package but then it complains about poor signal , traffic up/down green arrows, signal "- ", Red LED No IP, WLAN: 20MHx (4)
Status : Disconected
Signal : -
IMEA Number 86xxxxx
SIM IMSI: 655xxxx
Modem Internal Model: E3276
Modem firmware: 22.250.04.00.00
USB Modem: -

Limited Internet Mode: Limited Port Forwarding. UPnP and SMS not supported

Any polite suggestions!

Seems the E3276 issue on my 3020 is power related on some sort. It doesn't work on an iPad charger (5V/2.1A) and doesn't work on my MacBook Air USB ports. I got it to work once on my PC by using a Y cable between a USB3 and USB2 port. Afterwards, again nothing.

What is a reliable power supply that I can buy that will work with this?

It is not only constant current charger capacity matters, but lenght and type of the cable between charger and modem. Main output capacitors are situated in the charger, modem takes variable load. I use small PCB breadboard on the end of modem data cable (close to the modem) to filter noise on the power line. Using such circuit I don't need external power. Let me know if you need more details.

Hell yeah! But please start a new thread for that. Post pics, parts, etc

An update on the 8ta side - the E3276 stick works great when pluged into a PC / Laptop. At work got 12 - 15 MB download speeds and between 5 - 10 MB at home (obviously location and obstacles at play).

This is on a month-by-month 15+15GB package and bought the modem cash for around R2,000. LTE was automatically available without having to activate anything on the new sim.

Speeds good, now just have to find a wireless router that will work with this Hilink version of the E3276 (ROOTer Firmware on my MR3240 does not pick it up).

Anyone one with the 8ta E3276 that can tell us what LTE networks it can see?
Tools/Options/Network/Registration Mode - select manual & refresh.
OK, so Telkom's E3276 does TDD 2300MHz, but comes with the HiLink firmware :(
Ya, that's what I understand I have - the model is 'E3276s-920' and receive LTE signal from 8ta which is on 2300MHz.

Check out what they ay about Hilink modems on these sites:

AFAIK it does work.

My E3276 wouldn't work on my 3420v2 either, until I plugged it in to a powered hub, rather than the router. Now it works fine.

Maybe i'm behind the 8 ball here but it might be of interest to others that the TM/8ta 60GB+60GB works on LTE as long as you put the sim in an LTE device....kinda contrary to what it says on TM's T&C about the 60+60.
They do sell them standalone - R2188 from the store where i bought it from.

They're selling them at the Pavillion (Durban) for R1400 (Might buy this weekend - I had planned on buying when they dropped below R2000) - I just need to confirm whether or not it's actually compatible with their LTE network - Some say yay, some say nay :p

Pavillion TM was one i phoned that actually answered their phone - they said they had no stock nor could give me a price,Got mine from Musgrave TM,Gateway TM never answered their ph.
Definetly works as long as you have signal,my 60+60 sim is an old one & i never had to get anything activated on it,just put it in the modem & it was good to go on LTE.

Tun@: I've just come back home. I phoned them, and they said they had stock, and it was R2100. I told the lady who answered that I saw a pamphlet saying it was around R1400, and she checked with her manager, and confirmed.

I then drove to Pavillion, and walked into the store to purchase one. It was still in their system as R2100, whilst pamphlets littered around the store showed it for R1399 prepaid. I pointed this out to the person at the front who called the manager (G... something?), who then spent about 5 minutes changing it in the system (Hopefully permanently :P), and bought one.

This special has been there for 2 or 3 weeks now so you might've been ripped off if you bought it recently :/
