The S7 Slim has not yet got a good following so custom ROMS are a scarcity.
As soon as the uptake increases, hopefully, we will see people starting to work on custom ROMS and such.
Is there a specific feature you are looking for in ICS?

No specific feature. Just that it's only running 2.2. And world like to see some of honeycomb features in it. Can't find a custom rom for it either. Miui would be nice though.
Is the Slim worth it or should I wait? The 8ta contract bundle and off bundle pricing is worth getting on it's own, but I keep wondering if I should hold out for something better a few months down - so for now to avoid getting tied down to the contract.
I have ordered a cheapie WM8650 tablet off ebay, it is a risk on both local postal thieving and quality of item. I want to read ebooks, pdf files and browse offline html webpages I have saved, as well as watch MKV and divx videos. I have played around with the demo model of the Slim at Games, but did not try out the Telefunken cheapie next to it. The S7 Slim demo was okay only, I was not particularly impressed but it hits a sweet spot of price on contract and desirability.

If your after mkv playback, the slim7 might struggle quite a bit, htc flyer ( can confirm this can playback 10gb 1080p mkv's.. even over wifi streaming 
) or the galaxy 7" will be a better option for that size screen.

I just saw some demos of the Mediapad on youtube and think maybe I should hang on. Dual core with 1GB ram and high res 7" ips display - but at a bigger price - hopefully introduced here soon with 3G and on attractive contract. Or maybe see how the Kindle fire takes of.

I saw it this way, it is only R99 pm, so how bad does it have to be before you start cursing yourself?
Either way, in features or in price it is a bargain IMHO. The only downside is that there is not much development on it from the community yet, but hopefully that will pick up in the near future.

I couldnt control myself. I took it out on the contract. Its OOOOOK 
. For the price its worth it. I ported one of my sims that i already apend about R30.00+ airtime a month on as a spare sim. And minus the VAT since im using it on the company name. So basically im spending R57.00 extra a month on it which totals R1368.00 for the Tablet. Not bad. But the main thing i dont like is the Froyo. Especcially since i had the Transformer with Honeycomb 3.2. So if you looking for something you gonna use now and then, for basic stuff get it. If you gonna use it ALOT, wait for the Media Pad. Im pretty sure it will come out on contract when it lands here.
