Hi guys

I've got a Huawei K3715 modem that does not pick up any network?? I've tried the modem in 6 different machines but the green light keeps flashing twice every few seconds which according to the Huawei site means it can't find a network. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Cheers

Is it a prepaid or contract SIM Card? Has it been activated?

Have you tried a different SIM Card?

Hi Iam3G

I am currently using a prepaid sim. I also tested with 2 other sim cards, one contract and another prepaid one, still no joy...

If I take my sim card and put it into another 3G stick, a E172, it works 100%?

It should at least pick up a GRPS signal. Have you perhaps set your profile to 3G only? Or 3G Preferred?

Where abouts are you?

Have you tried testing with the modem outside with a notebook for getting a better signal?

@Iam3G : Modem was purchased from a member on this forum, but he hasn't been much help unfortunately... :-(

@nuyork : Have double checked all those settings, it's set to 3G preferred. I've tested it in Krugersdorp, Strubensvalley, Randburg and Woodmead... all the same result. Just 2 quick green flashes and the VMC software keeps saying "Searching for network"

There a possibility that the modem is Blacklisted. Take it to your nearest Vodacare and ask one of the consultants to do a IMEI Validation on that Modem. Or try calling 082155 even, maybe they can do it too.

Thank you Iam3G, will call them now!!

Is it possible to un-blacklist it?

@ VodacomData : Thank you for checking, appreciated.

@Iam3G : I bought 2 from the guy, the 1 works 100% the other not.. He said they are local stock, but have been network unlocked apparently.

Both have the same firmware version etc...

Not sure what else to try..

Hi

The modem was used before successfully

@VodacomData : Thanks again! Any indication of when it was last used successfully?

@Iam3G : Is there any way to perform diagnostics or something on the modem? I tried using Mobile Partner software out of desperation, and in the Options you can select the Registration mode, if I select Manual, it finds Vodacom, MTN and CellC but I can't register on any of them... Eish.

My apologies VodacomData, had both modems next to me and picked up the wrong one. Just sent you the correct IMEI.

Seems new and never used no cellphone registered against it.
