Huawei K3715 not finding any network?

Any diagnostic tools out there? Anyone know where I can get the original Vodacom firmware for the K3715?

Hi guys

Anybody know if I could try reflashing the device back to the standard vodacom firmware? Anybody know where I can get the firmware?

Thanks alot

From reading all the posts it really sounds like you have a broken modem. Why don't you take it to a VodaCare shop and have them test it?

I had a very similar issue with my K3715 modem, turned out to be a software problem. WesleyR, what version of VMC are you using... if it's not v9.4 (available on the vodacom.co.za site), try update the software first?

Given that he has 2 exact same modems and the one works on his machine and the other does not, coupled with the fact that VodacomData can see that the problematic modem has never connected to the network points at a faulty device IMO.

I had the same problem with my wife's 3715 USB stick, using my new lappie with Windows 7 Professional o/s.
Must be to do with the software loaded on the USB stick.

Thanks for the posts guys! I am currently running VMC 9.4.4.17702 if that helps?

I have even tried loading Mobile Partner software as I thought it was a software issue and still no luck?

When I do a scan in Mobile Partner for networks, if I set it to WCDMA it picks up Vodacom, MTN and Cell C but can't register on the network. Why would that be as we are GSM??

You obviously have a faulty modem. Theres no use to keep on looking for solutions that wont work at the end of the day anyway. The result will stay the same... No Network.

True Iam3G, but I think the problem is is that the previous guy flashed the card and set the country code to the wrong code, thereby forcing the modem to look for wcdma networks and we are on gsm. Is there are way to reset the country or something?

There is no such thing. IMO.

You obviously don't know your technologies.

Take The Modem To V-O-D-A-C-A-R-E!!!!

Ok, apologies for waisting everyone's time, was just told by a friend that this could possibly be the problem. :-)

Will take it to a VodaScare shop tomorrow.

Hi guys.

One last thing, just tried an MTN simcard in the modem and it works?! So why wouldn't Vodacom simcards work?
Tried more than 1 vodacom simcard incase.

Cheers

32k or 64k Vodacom SIMS's?

Its rather weird that the MTN SIM works in the Vodafone Modem and not the Vodacom SIM's.

@Iam3G : Yeah, that's why I was so puzzled! It's a Vodafone modem! I tried a 32k and a 64k Vodacom sim, both don't work. The MTN sim was a 64k sim.

I think the guy I got the modem from perhaps tried to network "unlock" the device and messed something up? Just a guess. Any way to fix that?
