Huawei Mate 20

The Mate 20 Pro was the perfect companion to go to a soccer game with, absolutely enjoyed playing with the wide angle and zoom levels

Dual sim and App twin is fantastic. Wife was able to combine work phone n personal phone into 1, muuuch less hassle. Got a film protector installed yesterday at one of the shops here and also picked up the spigen case, works perfectly. Currently no TG protectors out that work with the in-display reader.

Few observations after playing with the phone:
In-display fingerprint scanner - Obviously not as quick as traditional ones but so far my experience has been great, it works, its accurate, its quick enough.
Face unlock - It is so ridiculously quick that you don't get enough time to even use the fingerprint scanner.
Camera - takes great shots as Tsepz has already shown, gonna be fun playing more. Love wide angle and super macro shots
Size - being slim its really easy to hold and the green with the patterned back gives quite a lot of grip, but its slapped in a cover anyway so non issue.
UI - Obviously smooth as silk, i haven't delved in deep enough on EMUI 9 to notice an obvious difference from 8
Battery - Seems on par with my Mate 10 pro, running dual sim + 4g+ wifi + location + auto brightness + smart screen res and can't kill it in a day, didn't really measure SOT yet. But its actually kind of a non issue, the super charging is insane, 60% in 30 min , i mean. da ****.
Speaker - So far its okay, not insanely loud but loud and clear enough for some youtube watching. The packaged headphones go really really loud though and surprisingly are not bad.

All in all fantastic phone and now have a happy wife, thus a happy life lol.
 
Did any of you register online for the free watch even tough you might get one with telkom if you were one of the first 60?

Seems like you register there, then they will send you a mail in a few days to confirm your order that you placed with Telkom/Vodacom/MTN/Cell C and you register that purchase with them

If anyone is interested in the difference between how the device performs in normal vs. performance mode, I just ran AnTuTu and Geekbench in Performance Mode, so here's a little comparison of what difference it makes:

Have to say Huawei knocked it out the park with the Display on this phone, it is absolutely stunning even in Sunlight.

One of my concerns coming from the Note8 was if Huawei will have a display that is at least as good as some Samsung panels, but I would say this display is somewhat on par with the Note8 display.

Yes, it does not get as bright as some of the Samsung panels, but it still does an excellent job.

Waiting on my one to arrive... Your reviews and thoughts have encouraged me to try something new in terms of a different brand etc. I need the change
 
@Tsepz - with the photos that you are taking, are you holding the phone vertically or horizontally?

You guessed it the twilight. I cant wait to get my hands on it. Thank you for all the advice etc... I appreciate it being a solid sammy fan like yourself... Felt it was time to get with the times as so to say..... Lol. Does it come with a cover and protector on out the box
 
So what covers/cases will you guys and girls be getting?

I canceled my cancellation, no use waiting for the S10 as I suspect I would not be able to afford that when it launches, and this phone ticks 99.9% what I want minus the gorilla glass.

Looking at a AUG case, but seems that will be a while before they are available. In that one review the guy dropped it 30cm and it shattered, so a protective shockproof case is a must for this beast it seems.
