None of the comments were actually aimed at you, but at the “Destroyed” advertorial and other users strident promotion at all costs posts in the thread, looking at tespz here.

You were the one who’s guilty conscience made you jump in.

The low-light photos of the Mate 20 Pro haven't improved at all since the P20 Pro. They are a bit less sharp

The Mate 20 Pro feature a 24MP f/2.0 camera with fixed focus for selfies at the front

The front camera has the same Portrait mode as the main one, but the subject separation is far inferior. You can see ears and hair have gone missing on some of the shots.

The EIS won't work on the optically-stabilized telephoto camera either and footage from that is extremely jerky.

we've seen mid-rangers do better. The colors sometimes are washed out, but the contrast and the dynamic range are pretty decent.

The always-on electronic stabilization might be responsible for this softness, but we can't be sure as there is no way to disable it.

The 4K footage of either camera is average at best - it lacks sharpness big time.

Mate 20 Pro shoots 720p slow-mo videos at 960fps. While the regular slow-mo clips are only limited in length by your free storage, the super slow-mo clips last precisely 10s - 6s of slow-mo and two seconds of regular speed action on both ends. There is no smart detection, so it's likely to miss the important moment more often than not.

Finally, the Mate 20 Pro has some AI modes for the video. Two of them are blurred background and AI color. The first one is self-explanatory though the quality is rather poor.

The P20 Pro also has the same zoom capabilities and its videos are even a tad better
its daylight and low-light pictures are on par with the Mate 20 Pro's.

The iPhone XS Max is not a real competitor if you are a stickler for Android, but it has a lot of best-in-class features. While it can't match the Mate 20 Pro camera skills, nobody can, it can still offer better video recording over the Mate's. And its display, speakers quality, and chip performance are really hard to match.

Mate 20 Pro vs. Mate 20 X - have to say, would have been great if the X came down here, reminds me of the Dell Streak that pushed us to 5inch Displays and the Galaxy Note that had us push past 5inch

I'd be interested in seeing the comparison myself between a P20Pro and Mate20Pro, actually. If I choose which one to live with, I find the Mate20Pro far more flexible with a 16mm / 27mm / 80mm / 135mm and 270mm lens. Plus, there's the macro mode that the P20Pro lacks.

Also interesting that never picked up that a dedicated monochrome sensor was the better option for low light (monochrome).

For still images, that’s quite possible yes, I haven’t seen just how good the Pixel 3 images are yet, for video, I doubt either Huawei is best.

That’s my exact point, there is no “best phone”, one phone is best at A, another at B and a different one at C.

Any fanboyism trying to pretend that Phone X is the ultimate product that beats everything on earth is where my irritation mode goes into overload.

But jokes aside - Huaweis video isn't great (like I said - this is my sixth Huawei).

My personal metrics on a phone are image quality and battery though

I'm sure you browsed the other thread, but the dedicated monochrome sensor on even the Mate 10 Pro was better. But the Mate 20 Pro has far more accurate colours. Very keen to see a P20Pro ...
