Huawei P30 Lite

My 2c...Never buy a "premium midrange" device from Huawei. It isnt worth it

They recycle the same thing in different devices e.g P smart 2019,P30 lite and Honor 8x are basically the same phone.Huawei is becoming too fragmented and I wonder if they push updates to all their devices.

I mostly blame Huawei SA for the kak pricing.Their phones are cheaper outside SA.

Like how the **** is it possible to buy an imported P Smart 2019 dual sim@R3500 on bidorbuy and the SA pricing is R4500(single sim) and R5000(dual sim).

That price difference is too large and not justifiable.

The P20 and P20 pro will drop in price by the end of the year and you will be able to pick it up on contract pretty cheap.

I tend to like the premium Huawei's

Huawei SA is doing a piss poor job on pricing.

The price difference is around the support structure that is being built in ZA. You will not get any local support on a grey import device and that reflects in the price.
I have a p20 lite and it's maybe 1 month behind on google security patches? The stuff does get updated...

P smart 2019, P30 lite and Honor 8x are all the same CPU, chipset & GPU, but almost everything else is varied:

I agree that there's way too much fragmentation. Manufacturers need three ranges max (budget, midrange & flagship) with maybe two form factors in each range (compact & plus). Then only update each range once or twice a year. They can refresh things like RAM & maybe camera unit as much as they like as long as it's differentiated from the previous model.

Their pricing still baffles me dude.

Honor is their online/cheaper brand.

How can they ask for R4500 on such a kak phone like that.

A mate of mine has the P20 Pro. He just placed his phone on counter without cover and the camera glass broke.

Huawei's durability isnt the best..Only P series ,some Honor devices and Mate Series seem to get Gorilla Glass.
A camera lenses glass is broken, not a screen glass. If you have a gorila glass, it doesn't cover a camera lenses anyway.

But I agree that protruding camera lenses is a wrong idea. It may reduce glare reflections from a back plate, but it feels not good and it is not safe. I kept obsessed to not scratch the lenses every time I was picking up the phone, I thought I was getting mad and a gell case restored my confidence.

lol someone just said it was similar spec to the p30 lite though?
Why is it kak?
(seriously asking, I haven't looked at it)

Crap build quality. You can get something better for the same price or less.

You know your pricing of your "lite" product is kak when it is close to the price of last years flagship. IMG_20190409_160043_1147.jpgIMG_20190409_155806_651.jpg

Anyone offering this device on contract in SA?

Just got mine, 4gb version. Clear cover is included and screen protector comes preinstalled.

Try calling Vodacom Direct. I got it with topup 175 plus 2gig data for R299, doubt there's a better deal. It was a upgrade though.
