So this morning around 2:20am I woke up to a software update on my Huawei P40 Pro and was pretty excited since I been waiting to update to Harmony OS I thought time has come. I checked and saw its EMUI 12 update and i decided to download. I am convinced the update said 5,6MB and it took less than 2 seconds or maybe 3 seconds the update was downloaded. As soon as the phone rebooted my heart began racing I thought wow did I just download a virus. I put my phone down for about 6 or so minutes it update then optimized all apps in that time. I picked my phone it requested the phone lock pin and it opened and boom it was working fine.
First think I got where tutorials about the new control panel and notifications slide downs on the left being notifications and the right being the control panel. The lay out now looks more like the Harmony OS interface though EMUI 12 is still based on the Android system. The new software update so far is smooth with no lag and it feels fresh. Next change I noticed is the camera setting the the zoom slide has moved from vertical to horizontal but retains all other functions and options. As I shared with some friends, one friend alerted me to an additional function on the camera called golden snap. As hesitant as I was I Google though I had fears of being blocked since am using a huawei devices (jokes) and I discovered the feature works on moving picture but I must admit am still trying to get the trick right, apparently u can remove unwanted people who may pop up on your shot.
The last and probably less exciting feature that I have noted so far is the enlarging and shrinking of folders for easier access to apps in the folders. Not too excited because I hardly pile apps in folders but I guess it will be helpful to others who are different from me.
