Huawei P6

Odin: Download the file, install it via Odin, phone reboots. Sounds similar, no??:p Only difference is that Odin can do more and obviously is done via a PC rather than on the device itself

Nope, still see no similarities.

Odin need you to:
Download file
restart phone into download mode
connect the cable
ensure you have the correct drivers needed for download mode.
select the file in odin
select the correct options
then only does it go to your phone.

Huawei.
Download file
copy to phone
restart
or
download on phone
restart

Odin is 6-7 steps and not exactly idiot proof.
Hauwei is 2-3 steps and can be done by anyone smart enough to use a web browser.

Hey guys just got the P6 on my MTN contract upgrade and it comes with b119 firmware should I upgrade to b125. Have played around with HTC and Samsungs and customs recoveries and roms for a while they just seem easier to me. BTW this will void my warranty right?

Thanks

Will it void my warranty, reasons being when i flashed official firmware on my s3 i lost my warranty, but on my desire hd i flashed clockwork mod and sent it to vodacom for a speaker issue and it was repaired no question asked.

I'm beginning to not like this phone very much. Google maps is slow and the battery life is absolutely appalling.

I don't ha e any of those problems, however I noticed I am still running B111

Downloaded 125 then saw the post bout 132 and found http://huaweinews.com/2014/03/ascend-p6-b132-firmware/

It's noted that some users reported more battery usage after the upgrade but you can easily roll back.

Your issue may be related to your version, so try updating and see what it does, will be updating myself later or tomorrow.

It depends on the person you dealing with and weather or not that can prove any relation between the problem and the update.

That being said, Vodacom is exceptionally annul when it comes to Samsung, however that is Samsung's fault. They actually ha e indicators in a few places on the device to highlight root and firmware status. They really hate you improving on their messes.

You should not loose your warranty, but even though these are official updates from Huawei, they are not official for SA so Vodacom is well within their rites to be docks on this.

Will download B132 tonight and try it out btw how do you flash and roll back bit confused.

Just to clarify - If you scroll a Google map, is it smooth? If there's a way I can get it so on mine, I will be most pleased.

When I scroll a map, it's not unusable, but very draggy.

Seems perfectly smooth to me, no perceivable lag, just image smoothing and enhancing as I scroll across. Zooming works well too far from unusable.

I am on B107, never had issues with the device, smoothness all around. I will OTA when 4.4.2 is available, Huawei in parts Europe stated it to be released late in May.

Don't know if it is too late. Anyway, downloaded the B506 for my wife's P6, unzipped it, transferred to the d/load folder on the phone, went to settings, update local, worked like a charm. No need for GAPPS etc., just works. Backed-up contacts for in case, but alll was as before, except for 4.3.3 and the new UI, which has quite a nice option for a Win8 like Tile based homescreens. Can't say it will be the same foe everyone, but it was the easiest, simplest OS update I've ever did on a phone or tablet. And no, I'm not techie.

Link please, I know of a few leaked 506's but if you say yours is working and no need for gapps I would rather go with that.
Do you know if its already got SU binaries available? I made the mistake of updating at work and not allowed to connect the phone to USB, my phones so root dependent it freaked out on me
