Huawei P8 & P8 Lite - Reviews, tips & tricks

I managed to convert the Vodacom P8 Lite from single sim to dual sim (build number ALE-L21C02B130 to ALE-L21V100R001C432B046b).

Follow the instructions from post #1 in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8li...-lite-t3125331

1. Download the firmware from the "mega.co.nz" link in the above xda link.
2. Read the instructions included in the archive which you have downloaded (Word file).
3. Follow steps 1 and 2, and then do step 1 again.

I downloaded the file from the mega.co.nz link with a laptop and then transferred the files to an SD card before each step and then inserted into the phone (repeated 3 times). No root necessary.

After this it is working perfectly with dual sims.

I really would like to get my p8 lite to be truly dual sim
 
Just took the plunge on a P8 for myself after yet another issue wrestling with call microphone quality on the Galaxy S5...

I have just one thing to say

FOR FKSAKES someone please standardise on ONE fkn sim card size?!

It was the same with the move from mini to micro :D. Most manufacturers are moving towards nano now
 
I've just noticed... the little charging indicator led changes colour according to how full the battery is!
So clever :)

And low light photography is pretty impressive...

I have tried doing the above steps but on Step 1, my P8 states that the update has failed and upon rebooting, i notice that the build number changes from ALE-L21 to something along the lines of BalongV100R001C50B311
 
Does anyone have a call recorder working on a P8 lite? I've tried call recorder by lovekara and call recorder acr, and neither works.
 
Guys whom have the dual sim version activated to the ALE -L21 P8 lite, do you find that your phone wants to update the build back to the ALE-L21C02B130 after letting the updates run?

If im not mistaken, installing this update would risk losing the dual sim functionality???

I have the p8 lite battery life was good in the beginning. Then it deteriorate after a few months. I could only get about 4 hours out of it. Also after the software update it remains 4 hours. Like someone said Hauwei after service is pathetic, it true, they couldn't help me. I found on some forum to switch certain apps off like the notification center leave the ones on that you want to use, and on the consumption reminder, which I like, close the apps you not using, and switch off auto brightness of an put it on manual, switch off protected apps.
Don`t put battery saver apps or cleaner apps on the will gobble up your batter life. The phone has a phone management app that is doing a great job.

I love my P8 lite, but it has to go in for repairs. I can't download anything from playstore and I did the neccesary trouble shooting by stop the app, clear chache, uninstall updates, remove email address, reset device. So no luck for adding any apps or updates on palystore. the phone is getting very hot another issue, sad to let it go.
 
I'm confused, the specs says the phone (P8 lite) comes with NFC, but I can't find it and the RDS on the FM radio in not working either. But I do love my phone.

Check under Settings --> Wireless & networks --> More ---> NFC
 
So i recently got the Huawei P8 Lite and would like to find out from you guys which Apps i can remove and which are unnecessary on the phone as im really afraid to deleat and remove some stuff. My reason for also looking to remove unnecessary apps that come standard on the phone is because i only have 16gb of storage, i cannot upgrade to more storage as i am using the SD card slot as my second sim.


Also please advise on which apps i can used to set my data limits so that i do not go beyond my data contract limits?
