Hulu and Afrihost

Hi Guys

I hope you can help. I have Netflix and Hulu plus with Unotelly. I am using a Samsung blueray player and WD tvplus to stream to tv. both media players are connected via ethernet cables. I was with Mweb and have now joined Afrihost based upon the reviews got here. My account is a 4mbs uncapped and I have reduced my streaming to sd650kbs for Hulu Plus. Challenge I got is that since I moved to afrihost I cannot watch Hulu on my media players. it pause for buffering every 30 seconds. Two responses I got from Afrihost was one a straight we do not support Hulu and second was more helpful requesting that I run a traceroute to Hulu. What I am not sure about is does the hulu.com site I access from my computer the same as the one used by the media players(Devices vs on-line)?
Also has anyone else had this problem with Afrihost and how did they resolve it.

Afrihost is your problem.

Get a pre-paid account from another ISP (not Axxess) and your problem will go away. If it doesnt, I will eat my words.
 
I have exactly the same problem, with the same setup, 4mb Afrihost... Netflix works 100% - HULU buffers ALOT.

Sorry that you're getting mixed answers here :(
Officially, we can't support Hulu due to it's country restrictions and the methods used to stream from the site. Saying this though, doesn't mean we can't try our best though!

If you've posted a traceroute to our Support team please paste it here again, we'll take a look at where the slow downs are possibly coming in.
 
Afrihost and Netflix is a hit and miss experience. I got told the same thing they can't help since it's not supported blah blah. Like what Techead says try another ISP that uses IS, I'v heard Mweb runs it much better.

We have several clients using Hulu and Netflix with no issues. While they generally use external DNS services, they still have an excellent experience :)

No issues here with hulu and my afrihost business, perhaps your DNS/VPN is ***.
 
Apple TV streaming is crap though for iTunes trailers and videos on business uncapped.
 
Get a 1) Prepaid ADSL account (WebAfrica) & 2) an eleDNS trial account.

And using combinations with your existing AfriHost & UnoTelly accounts should enable you
to troubleshoot where the fault originates.
 
Which DNS service do you guys use for hulu and what sever you guys connect to? Local or US or UK?

I currently use UnoTelly with the CPT server.

It could be that the performance issues are related, it's really impossible to tell while the network is under strain. But what we can do is find a solution that works for now, while we deal with the demand issues on the network :(

I can also confirm that hulu works just fine for me even over wifi.

Something is odd here. I see inconsistent pings here and there, even to your router. 6ms to your router is strange, not terrible, but of concern. Anything else going on on your local network?

No offence dude, but to say you don't support an internet service, whatever it is is just wrong.

Obviously there's a routing issue somewhere with some link that is at capacity.

You guys need to look at the issue.
