hundred pushups program

I also used to be able to do 100 easily, realised I was doing the bad form traditional sit-ups and was cheating without realising it. If you don't focus on doing them right it is easy to cheat.
Following the guide on the 100 sit-ups site, my initial test was 43.
In my last set yesterday after W4 D2, column 3, I managed 60 :D
Tried going for 70 but due to exhaustion I don't think I was doing the last ones properly.

Edit:
Did my pushup exhaustion test for week 6. Managed 57, so I'm going to have to drop down to column 2.
Still, nice improvement over my initial test of 48.
What kind of stuff were u doing before that you could do so many in your initial test? Also, what kind of form are u guys using?[1] Arms close to body or more spread out? Obviously the closer they are to diamond pushups the more u gonna work triceps.... and chest my friend said.

[1] Sorry if this has been covered already somewhere in the previous 32 pages :p

I actually started doing pushups well over a year before this, although I wasn't following any special program. I also have some weights I've been lifting. If I remember correctly 18 months ago I could only manage 20 pushups.
I'm skinny though, I weigh somewhere between 55-60kg. I try eating like a fat person but I just don't gain weight. These pushup/situp/squat programs probably make it worse but then it is definitely giving me more strength.

I've had my arms more spread out but maybe I'll try them closer because my chest could use some work...

ok, cool :) yeah, if u try doing the pushups with arms less spread out u will be surprised how much harder it is and how much less u can manage! Quite discouraging actually :p

will try an initial test tonight and see how i score...

EDIT: OMG, this is terrible :o I only managed 26 now. Put me down for week 3 plz!

Struggling with this, initial test 15,first week i couldnt even get through the 4th set on any of the days,so did week one again and ive managed to get through half the minimum required of set 5,so its definately working. I guess ill do week one for the 3rd time :(

I tried doing some proper diamond pushups last night.
Damn they are totally different, and hard. My chest still hurts quite badly!

I think it's worth starting this program again with diamond pushups after you have finished it with regular pushups.

Don't stress, it takes time but the improvements do show, me and week 3 are good friends already :(

Wow 57! Nice!

Diamond pushups = ouch!

This week I am adding some cycling to my program for the cardio and really need to restart the sit-ups program

I can actually still feel a tiny bit of pain when I press in the right spots. 48 hours later!
Guess that means it's a good workout :)

I normally feel the day after the day after is the worst, but yeah if you still feeling it then you know it was good ;)

Started with week 3 column 3 last night.
Managed to do 25 pushups for set 5 :)

Not sure if i can dedicate 3 nights per week to doing the programme :( Between gym and other stuff, i won't have enuff rest days...

Add me to the list! Better late than never I guess ;) Did 26 for my initial test

Im on week2 now. I'm glad I didn't go strait to week 3. I barely made it through W2D1 column 3!

I'm also starting 50 pullups this week. I read up on the muscle groups used on pushups vs pullups and it didn't seem to share anything so I guess it'll be okay to do both at once. Anyone doing both?

:D

did my week 3 day 2 column 3, with the 5 set i managed 25. Just made it.
