To everyone reading this thread.

I am not using my real username as I do want this to be private. Or as much as possible.

A while ago I met someone. We hit it off right away and the following months with that person has been awesome.

I somehow ended up proposing to this person the day after Valentines:eek:, to be honest I am not entirely sure how it happened. The "someone" accepted it and now we are engaged.

My point is did I rush this? We are not even living with each other yet

A very difficult situation you have there.

Question is what on earth possessed you to do it so quickly?

Dude it is just an engagement, can be broken off at any point.

People worry to much about being engaged, if getting married you should kuk yourself about if your having doubts.

No I don't think you rushed it and **** what society thinks. If you found the right person to be with and she actually WANTS to marry your sorry ass I say go for it.

My parents didn't live together before they got married so why should that bother you?

With you guys being engaged I think the next step is moving in together, plan the wedding, get married and bob's your uncle.

There is no formula to this. It's just something you know. And if it feels right then sweet.

My bet is the OP probably got some backchat from friends or family and this is why he is starting to doubt himself and his decision.

SHE SAID YES

Stop worrying and go boink her

Thank you for your words Acid.

I am crazy over this person and the feeling is mutual. The reason I am doubting myself is that it will be impossible for us to move in together before the end of the year.

She hasn't told her parents and nor have I told mine

Yeah, you rushed it. You don't live together, and never have!?

I called off my engagement just 2 months before getting married - it doesn't have to be permanent. My advice is to move in ASAP to determine for the both of you whether or not it will work - no leeway here imo - if you have never lived together then you do not know each other well enough yet I reckon.

Couple of questions:

How old are you?
How old is she?
How long have you two been together?

whoa! a couple of months!? that's intense dude, usually people get engaged after about a couple of years(2-3),well i guess you really fusked up this time :p. can you imagine what would happen if you said: " ok, I don't know why i asked you to marry me but i think it just wasn't the clever thing to do"

You are correct, the thing is we did spend a couple of weeks together. Not long ago.

We actually got on well but I must admit I am shocked she said yes. She contacted me this morning and said "fiance'"

Both in our 20's!
We have been together a couple of months

Big difference between a 21 year old and a 29 year old getting married imo...

Both in our early 20's

Yeah, you rushed it. Now talk to her about it - maybe she's feeling the same way - if you're not comfortable enough to talk to her about it, then you're not ready for marriage...

Spoke to her on the phone about it. She is over the moon about it.
She said she always knew we would etc etc.

Of cause it kind of sucks we can't make it offical yet.

We are both Christians although both don't really practise it.

Never ever thought about divorce:eek:

I'd say keep on breathing dude, your're engaged now. Start getting used to the idea and see what happens, you dont have to get married right now!
