I am using ADSLUncapped now. Ask me anything ...

Sybawoods, then why may I ask do some people get lower pings (160-180) on ISDN than your unshaped DSL account?

Not sure what you mean by the question, but here goes...

On ISDN ISP's have no restrictions about how to manage their international traffic. They can create their own peering arrangements, and basically route the traffic in a way that provides the best overall quality of service. ISP's like DataPro for example offer brilliant international latency over ISDN because of the excellent international connectivity they have access to.

With ADSL it's a whole different ball-game. SAIX owns and controls the infrastructure, how ADSL traffic is routed, negotiate international peering arrangements and so forth. All the ISP's can provide is authentication, and then the traffic is in the hands of SAIX. Only until recently have companies like UUNET and Internet Solutions been able to get ADSL run on their own infrastructure and manage the traffic themselves.

Currently SAIX / TELKOM's unshaped ADSL is the best that they are able to produce on their own infratructure. Which is why I make the point... companies like UUNET, DataPro, IS who now have the means to provide ADSL independent of SAIX, should be able to produce latency even better than they do on their ISDN lines. On DataPro ISDN for e.g. I get pings in the 180ms range to the UK. I would imagine that if they provided ADSL over this same pipe, latency should be even better.

Hope that all makes sense. Apologies to the more tech literate - that's my layman's understanding of the status quo :o

Skippy.

I dont believe MyADSL should become a platform for promoting illegal uses of P2P so I have only one word for you: google.

we are in the age of piracy so how can you offer uncapped adsl and not allow fast p2p,i know how you can because you know if ppl cant download from p2p they wont use alot of bandwidth so have uncapped adsl and no p2p is pointless.

seems like uunet is going downhill......
how is your speed from international ftps?
