So I'm on this 10gb big contract. I even tested with a non roaming sim before getting it. My connection is rather temperamental though. When its good I can get 4mbps but when its bad its really just saying connected but it isn't. Lately my signal seems to have dropped off a bit and it's really frustrating. I tried to do a speedtest and it wouldn't even load. So I tried one on my phone (through Wi-Fi and a router) and got 262kbps but in the graph it was mostly in the first second then nothing. Upload basically stopped at 86%. This is pretty much what I experience while trying to browse like Facebook will load the top bar then nothing else. Wish I could "trade in" this contract, bite the bullet and get ADSL now that they are upgrading 384k to a more acceptable speed.

When it happen open command window and type "ipconfig /all" (without quotes). I am interested what DNS Servers are assigned.

Ok so after I logged a "call" etc a techie came out to my place yesterday morning. I actually did a speedtest in the morning before he came and I got about 1.5Mbps and a fairly stable throughput which was not the fastest but completely acceptable. Once he arrived and I showed him the router interface I noticed that signal had jumped from my usual 35% to a whopping 52%. I did a speedtest and got over 4Mbps and a ping of around 60ms. Did another one, 5+. One last speed test for luck and I managed to crack 7.5Mbps! (ping of 30 something).

Murphy's law hey... Best I've ever seen on 8ta was about 5Mbps when I was at someone elses house testing and they got about 65% signal. Best on CellC at my place was 11 something.

So yeah, it certainly seems to be limited to the evenings and especially at "that time of the month"...

Hi rorz0r!

If you have a problem again at "that time of the month", I suggest you log another query and we can look at addressing this issue.

My speeds dropped incredibly about 2 weeks ago (0.30Mbps download) and I've got a techie coming this week to check it out. But last night I did a speed test and got 4.1Mbps download. I'm not sure if I should hope it stays like that or drop back down so the tech can see there's a problem and attempt to improve the situation.

It would be nice if there was an acceptable baseline for the speed - say 1 or 2Mbps. But to sit for two weeks with 0.3Mbps is not good enough. The fluctuation in speeds is what's stopping me from getting a contract / bigger data package with them.

Hi saor!

We can postpone the tech by another week to check if the problem does arise again? Provide us with your reference number so we can assist with this. We can get the tech to attend as soon as this problem arises again.

Let us know.
