Okay peeps here it is:

Is it 'weird' or 'skelm' of me to um... express my interests... in a lady that had previously gone out with a good friend of mine?

They had broken up about 3 months ago FWIW.
Oh, and the friend has since 'moved' on..
:)

I'd ask the good friend how he feels, if he's happy then its all good.

The important thing to ask yourself would be.
What would Barney Stinson do?

Just be prepared to suffer any possible cosequences. It is very difficult to predict a person's reaction to this situation. Even that person may think s/he will be fine with it until it happens. I was in the same situation a little while back and my friend still won't speak to me. I don't think he ever will even though it had been a while and they had both moved on.

just note that he IS going to say "Yeah sure, why not?" but it won't be
so even if he says yes, it might still be a no....

just think for yourself - would you like it if your buddy was screwing your ex-chick, 3 months after you broke up?

Life is too short for trivialities. Ask him, then decide your course based on his response.

A couple of things to consider here:

How good a friend is he?
What do you think he would do if the roles were reversed? how would you feel?
Is she hot? Is she worth losing a friend over?

Take into account this possible scenario:

You hook up with your friends ex, he doesn't dig it and the friendship is ruined. You enjoy the company of your ex-friend's ex for however long it lasts. Your ex-friend and your current gf rediscover their feelings for each other, you lose a gf and a good friend.

The most unlikely scenario, your mate accepts it and you remain best buds while you and his ex live happily ever after. (I've never scene this happen except in the movies)

Either way, it's a Jerry Springer episode in the making.

screw the bro code. I say go for her!!!

The bro code is some stupid thing made in hollywood. There is no such thing.

At the end of the day, its what makes you happy. Mates come and go, but a soulmate doesnt.

How would you feel if he did it to you?

As per the bro code: sisters, daughters, mothers, grandmothers and exes are off-limits.

On the flip-side, for every bro code there's a ho code.
