I got the Omnia!

I saw it online for 30$...i called samsung but they couldn't give me any details....
Killer, can you play divx/xvid files with touch player?
i gave up and downloaded coreplayer....

core play , works great...PM if you want it.

MTN Westwood

I also just got the Omnia from MTN at the new Westwood Mall in Westville in Durban.

How did you find the service at MTN Westwood? I went there yesterday and was dissapointed. I am due for an upgrade shortly and asked them to check the specific date. They told me I can go shop and they'll call me. 3 hours later they still didn't call - so I went back. They told me that oh, i can upgrade "sometime" in October. I called MTN myself this morning and can upgrade 3 October. Also, they could not explain to me why I can take the Nokia N82 on Anytime 200, but not on the Off Peak 200 - I mean, it's the same price I'm paying? Just that I get to use the time after hours?

Very good and quick, I was there at 2pm yesterday to upgrade and walked out with the new phone at 2:30pm.

I beleive Killer got the Omnia for R319 p.m. on an MTN Anytime 200. Zero pay in.
Other options are R449 pm on Anytime 350 and R500 pm on Anytime 500.

Check the MTN site if u aren't familiar with the new packages.

Considering this phone myself, as I am sick of waiting for the nokia N82 and the Omnia seems to be pretty impressive.

@bar1, @Killer

How snappy is the interface? The other question.....is this an iPhone killer?

I am used to windows mobile 5, wm6 is much much better.

I haven't played with the iphone but from what i read the iphone's interface suppose to be better.

Saying that, specs wise, its definitely the iphone killer...
and you can get plenty of apps/games for wm6.

Main criticism of the phone:
The stylus is not practical in anyway...
1) Its width/bulkiness
2) It being external to the phone
[-] 3) Couldnt work out how to attach it to the phone with the string :D :o [/-]
Lol... just saw now that its a lid that comes off.. i was using the thick end.. not the point

Otherwise is cool :)

Well I have been using the HTC Tytn for the past 6 months and the Omnia is the same size in length and width but half the high.

I also don't like the stylus being bulky and separate but don't think I will use the stylus much once I have customized my settings etc.

I heard the stylus is just an after thought...the phone was suppose
to be finger use only, like the iphone.

@bar1, killer. Anything irritating about the phone yet? Other than having to remove the battery to take the MicroSD card out? [edit]I see it supports USB 2.0, so then I assume it should be pretty fast then? So no point in taking it out to put into a card reader which is likely to be limited to USB 2.0 speeds as well.[/edit]

Are u guys able to play video using all the various codecs yet?

Am getting keen on the Omnia, I just need to do a bit more homework on it before I make a decision on getting it...
[edit]
I'm very impressed with the video reviews and full review on Mobiletechreview :)
