cant you just run openbox/fluxbox/xfce4/etc instead of unity? problem solved, no more tears.
Expose is awesome. It shrinks down all your windows to fit onto your desktop. Then you switch between them instantly. Give it a try. Windows really copied the idea poorly, I never use the Vista/7 switch windows button, it's useless.I had to google Expose, and see that it's like the "switch windows" button on Windows 7. That button is on my quick launch bar, but I never use it. Why? Because I use a taskbar (like XP had), not a stupid dock that only shows one icon per application, and doesn't even show whether it's running or not. (I'm talking about the Windows 7 imitation dock, I have no clue what the Apple dock does).
I know this has nothing to do with Linux, but here's another example of the plague that is the Apple UI. That web designer should be taken outside and beaten to death with his precious iPhone. ****ing backwards scrolling, floaty icons.
Dude, icons don't float like that on an iPhone (or OSX for that matter).
Jeez dude. That's like blaming Henry Ford for a knock-off part in your car.
Sure, Apple may have conceptualized it, but it's not their fault when someone else implements it badly.

I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 onto my netbook, and very quickly grew to loath the sidebar. So I googled how to get rid of it, and while reading this article, I realised that Ubuntu is trying to copy Apple. All the reviewers comments are to the theme of "oooo, it looks like the dock", "it's almost like the iPad", "the window controls are on the left, just like Apple", "idiots loooove the new interface", "hardly anything can be right clicked - perfect for idiots who can't understand a mouse with more than one button".
Well **** you Ubuntu and **** you Apple, some of us want the Windows (XP) interface. Thankfully, one of the comments (three cheers for Boo) explained how to get the UI back to a reasonable and customisable interface, and another article on the same site showed how to get the get the window controls back to the right side.
I've almost got it to look like Windows.
Problem is, Apple has too much influence, and Microsoft has started to mess with Windows' interface; UI peaked with Windows XP, and that is where it should have stopped. Apple has less than 10% market share, and any luddite who can't handle a real OS can buy a fruit branded computer. The rest of us (who like Windows) would just like to say, "DON'T LISTEN TO THE JOURNALISTS - LEAVE REAL OSs LIKE WINDOWS AND LINUX ALONE".

Anyone know of another lightweight linux I can try on my netbook? Thanks.
I blame Apple - it's their UI.
