Phone again... they had problems on their systems this morning. Apparently now resolved.

Moggie... this is good.
I called 10219: "Sir, it will take up to 21 working days. We do not know what is going on at the moment, that is the technician's office's responsibility to make the appointments"
so... I had a question...
"Is it safe for me to leave my line plugged in to my modem while they are working?"
They didn't know. She told me to call 0800 375 375, as they can answer that question.
So I call.
Speak to a dude, he says "Yeah it's fine, you can leave it plugged in. But, give me your number please sir"
So I do... "please hold"
A minute later: "Sir, the DSL has already been activated on your line"
Checked the router and no light. Follow his requests for plug this, unplug that, reboot now, reboot again, this setting that setting... you know what I'm getting at...
So he says he will now escalate it, and I should follow up with 0800 456 786 with this new "escxxxxxx" reference number.
So I thank him for his time, and call that number.
I have no idea where it diverted me to, but this is what the lady told me:
"Sir, the technicians are CURRENTLY at the exchange doing the work RIGHT NOW. They will call you and let you know as soon as they are done."
So, with a smile... I start waiting. I mean... its just a jumper, this should only take a minute.
Go make a sammich and as I get back to my PC... the router catches my eyes... THE LIGHTS ARE ON FOR DSL AND INTERNET!!! (The telkom guest account).
OMG YEAH!!!
So, just to be sure I make a few calls again, and they confirm it has been completed, and I finished the Self-Install...
WOOOOOOT!
Now posting from my new DSL with OpenWeb (yeah, giving them a try...).
All is well that ends well, I guess.
Just super odd that I got 3 different responses within 30 minutes regarding the matter. REALLY stupid if you ask me...
