Sometimes if i switch the mains of the pc displayes a no signal on the monitor, when i switch the pc on the no signal word goes away and comes back on,the hdd light stays on and the pc goes on but still the nosignal word is on the monitor...wtf..

Now the way i repair it is kinda long way around.
1-I unplug the power cord for a minute,if that dont help i go to step 2
2-I unplug the 2 hdd and boot up....still doesnt work go to step 3
3-plug 2nd hdd in again and pull out cmos battery for one minute and power cord..this dont help i go to step 4
4-BANG DA PC HARD AND TWIST THE CHASSIS A BIT.:mad:if this dont work, you right step 5
disconnect all hdd's and boot up...this dont work i leave the pc off for 3 minutes and then default bios settings loads...pc working again as the the NO SIGNAL DISPLAY GOES AWAY.

In all the 1-5 cases it sometimes come right again.

THis is what i found
My cmos battery is fine--i tested it
my mobo is not shorting out on the chassis
both my hdd are fine
my grafix card is fine except for some dust on the side
monitor connections is fine
vista ultimate and xp mbr is fine.
memory modules is fine
Now why is this happening.

Try using another PSU. With all the power cuts lately it is more often than not something to do with the power supply unit. Computers hate power fluctuations - to see this for yourself connect an UPS to monitor the voltage and frequency of power received from Eskom.

I have the same problem, It's a problem whith the graphics card driver or software. Try updating the driver.

I really doubt whether it's a driver problem, if there is driver problem the PC still would've displayed something during the POST, before the driver kicks in.

Sounds like a power issue. You sure that PSU has enough juice to keep everything going?

let me tell you what is being powered
1-2hdd
2-2 diskdrive
3-all pci slots filled 5.1 cardthat takes up 2 pci slots
4-gforce 6600 card
4-all usbports filled usb keyboard/mouse/cell modem/webcam--front port flash stick/wireless dongle
5-2 fans running from psu power plug
i can remember everything but all this use to be fine until last year december when this started to happen.
SOmetimes i noticed that bios just suddenly loaded default settings ,maybe th e root is a cmos battery but i doubt it.

What's the wattage on your PSU? Have you tried unplugging things you don't need, like the extra disc drive? Try and cut out everything that sucks juice and isn't required to get the system to actual run. If that solves it, you probably need a bigger PSU.

Avctually i have done those things and still it persist....Its really only happens when the ac is down,i have a 300w 2005 model psu....Ag man its been faithfull through 3 upgrades already. Please dont blam her

hmmm i had a problem with a X1600pro on a 300w psu where sometimes the lights come on and stays on...with no video signal....and just keeps at that.

Then leave it for a while its fine again....anything similar to urs?

I've got a PC with the same problem. I reckon Eskom fried the mobo with a power spike. Bought a new PC in the mean time though.
