I need a response from rain

Instead of complaining so much have you guys tried moving your modem around to the best area where you get the best speeds? I always average 20mbps - 30mbps throughout the day on the 24/7 package.

I live very close to the LTE tower.. A few weeks ago (pre-lockdown), I actually walked with my dog right next to the LTE tower, with a Rain sim card in my iPhone and performed a speedtest... Got the same, like 1mbps - compared to my prepaid MTN Sim Card, which does 50mbps+ at the same time.

Also keep in mind our tower only does 1800mhz.. in other areas they do both 1800mhz and 2600mhz, which apparently makes a huge difference.

How do you know it’s a Rain tower?

Small town, only 2x properties that hosts cellular towers. I wouldn't have had signal (not to mention, full strong signal) if the the nearby towers wasn't Rain. Also in the past our neighbourhood had a power outage that lasts all day causing the towers' batteries to die... then my phones MTN have no signal, my dad's Vodacom, and our Rain router (powered by an inverter) would all be dead. I think all carriers on the same property here to power our neighbourhood.

Streetview photo from 2010 - today the red tower is much, much bigger, with a lot more radios, dishes, microwaves and whatever you call it - it's visible from my house.

So yeah.. I know Rain is utilising at least one of these towers.

I'm currently on the 24/7 unlimited plan and I'm getting the following speeds on the 2600mhz bandView attachment 818597

How the hell did you get that above 10mbps limited speed?
The 24/7 is nice! But the download limit is just driving me utterly crazy!

Got 5 students and myself trying to all do our work, and these students aren't even streaming Netflix or like that!!!!

It's work they doing for the new online UJ learning

I think it has something to do with the 2600mhz band... I only get 1 bar of signal btw, occasionally I get 2 but I'm pretty happy so far.

Well just after posting that thread, I decided to be a rain tower / signal detective, lol

Took my rain SIM card out of the router put it in my phone downloaded the network cell info app and followed the radio waves..... I stay very close to the University of Johannesburg campus and had a suspicion that rains towers are there, and I was right. But because of the distance and also I'm higher level than the UJ.

Put sim back into the router, and moved the router to the old type steel coal stove. And now I'm getting full capped speeds of 11/11mbps!!! Maybe the steel chimney is helping to be a super antenna!!! Ping has also improved from +- 50ms to 25ms

Lucky you ... this app seems to only be available to androids

Update:
They still haven't responded to two open tickets. Cancelling.

My best guess is they are cheating customers into 1Mbps speeds because they overpromised and are now saturated. In addition to severe shaping (which is proven due to spikes in speeds from the theoretical max to a ridiculously low number)

I will check what else there is, Afrihost, Telkom, Cell C, Vodacom, MTN

Update 2:
Received a response in PMs. Will update the main post based on the outcome

Update 3:
Right I've been helped most though a referral from @rain_mobile *thanks man!
I did get sufficient help but it didn't solve all my problems unfortunately.

The run down is as follows:

1. Agent asked what my problem was

2.0 I responded, he asked the network team to switch my tower
2.1 Due to the fact that I live in a remote area, there aren't many towers.
2.2 My ping did improve but cut-outs were still common
2.3 Close to the end of April I did get far better connection (I also lost the will to browse a lot lol, so I'm not sure how connections are denied/dropped but had none by the way)
2.4 I gave him postive feedback but notified him of my network situation and my current needs. The ticket is closed and I cancelled the service

Note that THIS was what I wanted. I only wanted assistance. Which I received thanks to @rain_mobile

Also turns out rain was going through a support transition, so by now things should be smoother.

That is all.

TL;DR
rain is a good network, I think their high influx of new clients is causing saturation and some of us unfortunately are left behind. They had a change in support, and due to COVID-19, support response will be slower (for now) -- I did recieve support at the end which is a +1.

Thanks
