I moved into an apartment in March where we had the existing internet of the previous tenant. The internet was through Telkom. It was fast and worked well. At the end of the month the internet stopped working so we applied for internet from Telkom. We have been waiting since April. Received an sms straight after our application but that's all. Met a Telkom technician who was in our building. He checked and called Telkom and they reckon 28 August is our installation date as this is a new block. Its over 20 years old!!! The previous tenant had internet for 4 years without any problems. In desperation I bought a router from Vodacom. They are charging me R599 per month on a 2 year contract but 20G is only lasting 3 days as they reckon my computer is doing updates and they said I cant do anything about it as it's Windows 10.

So now we are locked into a 2 year contract without being able to access the Internet which i desperately need for work.

My friend suggested i contact MWeb as she's had superb service from them. What do I have to do to get internet???

First, you need an active telkom line for Mweb to do anything. Did you apply for a ADSL line online or via phone?, you should go to the Telkom Direct store, if you haven't already. And try to get the area manager's number, or send TelkomZA a PM

You need to get an IT professional to come sort out whatever is consuming your 20GB in 3 days...

Assuming that is an LTE router, 3 days is all it takes to finish up 20GB with windows updates, Youtube videos in contant 1080p and some facebook videos as wel. I watch a lot of music videos on youtube in 1080p and stream Netflix in 720p, I average 5GB a day on a 4mb adsl connection

Yes, but once off, that's it, or does Window 10 use 20GB each and every month? They need to internet for work and thus will cut down on that if thats the reason.

Well LTE normally runs at speeds of up to 50mbps if not more, windows updates can't be more than 20GB in a period of 3 days (depends on how many computers with windows 10 are connected to your router) ,surely something else is downloading in the background, like cellphones, tablets, ect...Or someone is constantly on facebook, browsing pics and vids.

Which version of Windows is installed on your PC/Laptop/ device?

Select [Start, Settings, System, About] at the bottom of the list and let us know the
Edition, Version, OS Build numbers.

Next would be to let us know if you are logging with an MS account or with a local account.
There quite a few things you can do to control the update process on WIN 10.
