Besides that insurers won't cover without a tracker. Is a tracker useful besides bringing back a messed up car (if not by the thieves, the police will tear it apart) ?

if you get an option where you can track your car with their app - you can find where you parkedBesides that insurers won't cover without a tracker. Is a tracker useful besides bringing back a messed up car (if not by the thieves, the police will tear it apart) ?
Depending on insurer and where you live you might not be insured for theft at all if you don't fit the tracker.
how much more is your premium then if you had taken a tracking device? My insurance is through a broker and with Santam. I am paying a slightly higher premium due to not fitting a tracker, but it is not mandatory with them to have one.
Previous insurer was Quicksure, with the same situation, although the were underwritten by Santam, thus explaining why the rules were the same.
Better to verify with the company before insuring with them.
seriously worth it then cant get any tracker for less then 100 bucksIt is R26 higher per month, thus not validating getting a tracker (for more ) to reduce it.![]()

really didn't notice that with my car's Bluetooth - my android does that automatically anywayNot that anyone should need this...but most cars with Bluetooth will tag that as your parking location the moment you disconnect.
Unless it's only iOS that is that clever...
I think Google Now does that by detecting when you stop driving and start walking. I noticed it when a past phone upgraded to Android 6. My car is older and doesn't have bluetooth. Not that anyone should need this...but most cars with Bluetooth will tag that as your parking location the moment you disconnect.

FWIW - I've never been asked to install a tracker by insurers, but I've driven only Alfa Romeos since I bought my first car, and their value has never been more than ~100k, so maybe I haven't hit the threshold to trigger that. Have been insured by Momentum, MiWay and Outsurance during this time period.

I'm in Cape Town now, but lived in Pretoria previously and it wasn't an issue then either. As others have pointed out, maybe the value of the car.Depends where you are.
I know in Cape Town they don't care and there it's only a bonus if you get it as they reduce the premium.
No I don't think I can track my car that has beame. Can you track your car with Beame?
