Anybody know when we will see the new i5 750's in the country?

Next question will be availability of LGA 1156 motherboards.

Thanks

Prophecy, Sybaritic and Landmarkpc have the new i5 and i7 CPU's listed as well as 4 Asus P55 mobo's. They also have prices but they could change once released.

Frontosa have it on the new price list.
So maybe a couple more weeks before they arrive.
The H50 cooling system is also now available from them and the price from the initial one has drop over R100. So hopefully the listed price for the i5 comes down as well.

I saw the i5 750 on Frontosa's list, and on a few sites on pre-order, but no one can say when they will be available. Lets see if Sunday 6 is D-Day as the rumors go.

Apparently it's September 8.

Anyway, why not wait for i9? Then everyone will be dumping their i7's so you can pick up i7 parts for cheap. Even now you can get an i7 920 for R400 more than an i5 750.

Only advantage I see with i5 is the boards are cheap and you don't need to buy tri channel ram.

I hope the i5 arrives real soon. I need to see the phenomII 955 price drop big time. :D

That i5 is being listed under R2K right now. Either goes up or down when they have an official price for it. Just hope that either way they have to make the AMD compete. I'm holding off a few weeks already to see this happen.

This sounds interesting....

"According to Intel, the upcoming Havendale CPU will be supporting the P-55 chipset and LGA 1156 socket as well. This CPU will feature a built-in graphics chip, sparing the user the hassle and extra money to buy a dedicated graphics card. Furthermore this graphics chip should be much more powerful than the existing onboard graphics solutions, which is a technology that is likely to disappear. Graphics performance is unknown at the moment, but rumor has it that it will be in the GTX 280 range, which is very impressive."

Which store is that at? I've only seen them at around R2200.

stupid Q, is the i5 "FSB" or DMi (i think)

I doubt it, the GTX280 needs quite an expansive cooling solution so it's unlikely that such a powerful GPU (at least the Intel version thereof) will be included on the same package as a CPU...

It should use the same BCLK system (core speed = multiple of 133) as the current i7 range.

i see.

what i meant was is the i5 QPI or the "fsb" one, actually i'm just looking for a decent comparison between i7, i5 and i3 i guess. whats this turbo business that some i5/7 has ?
