iBurst Browsing Problem 2012/02/25 [OSS/BSS Problem - Resolved]

ginggs,

Are ALL your pages loading fine? Internationally, everything? I'm trying to download some files now but getting timeouts and speeds of less than 3kB/s. :( Only certain pages seem to want to open on my side.

Ginggs, you must have some sort of special voodoo powers, because my international is horrendous. My nail polish dries quicker than pages load.

My connection seems almost fine now. Most pages load fine, local is back to normal. The only BIG issue is Google: cannot check email, even the search page times out... But, I suspect this is a different issue.

I'm having terrible problems tonight!! Browsing is really slow! Google maps refuses to load a page fully, Gmail took forever to load up, when I browsed to the mybb site, it opened up as a mobi site, another forum I visit took about 4 minutes to load the index page, usually takes less than 15 seconds!!! But when I connect via my phone and Vodacom, everything loads up properly and quickly!!! not sure whats going on!!

The really weird thing is, Jango.com is working just fine. And that's an international internet radio site streaming at 320kbps. However, downloads and the rest of the bloody Internet is non-existent.

It's very uneven: some things - local and international - are loading and functioning reasonably well; others not. The fact that it's not just international sites, and that there seems to be variation around the country (though everyone is having problems) suggests there's a lot more going on that just the international cable problems.

But there is a way around the Gmail problems: *if* you can get on at all, enable POP access (but make sure you have your Gmail and email client settings set to leave copies on Gmail), and set it up in a local email client (I use Windows Live Mail not because it's great [it isn't], but because it stores mail in .eml format: this means that you won't lose whole folders through corruption to a single database file, as certainly happened in Outlook Express, and can happen in other clients). That's worked fine for me except during Sunday's authentication issues (and it also meant that I could access my Gmail a few years ago when they accidentally took down too many servers and took down their web interface).

Iburst has been ridiculous for me since I got home at 5.30, some sites won't loads, others load fine. Tried to download a few apps off the android market place on my tablet and I waited over an hour and a half for 3mb... Yet downloaded Samsung kids at awesome speeds!

So what exactly is the issue and when may it be fixed? I'm hoping later tonight ir at least by the time I get home tomorrow... >_<
had to place an order at an online shop on my phone cuz iburet wouldn't load the site. :-/

Still no feed back from Ibust?

All the pages I tried are loading fine, international pages might be slower than normal, but they do load. YouTube still up and down. I just tried speedtest.net and got a 'configuration load failed' error.

Gmail's web interface working fine for me.

If you are having problems with certain sites not loading, please post the problem sites in sticky, as per:
Please post which international sites have problems. As there are multiple routes some will be better than others...

Web Interface seems stable enough, but downloading mail through pop.gmail.com (that uses SSL) takes ages. Also, connections to the Google Talk server (talk.google.com) using SSL constantly disconnects. For now I'll be using the web interface, though.

Some sites are fine while others (mostly international) do not load at all. Another major issue is that International downloads are almost non existent or crawl along at less than 10KB/s.

Thanks for your input. Please read the thread next time.

That's interesting (but again perhaps merely illustrates the variation in access problems): as I said above, I've noticed no problems at all with POP access to Gmail (pop.googlemail.com) recently, except of course during the authentication problems on Sunday. On Saturday afternoon, for example, I wasn't able to load any pages, local or international, but Gmail POP access on multiple accounts was fine. Admittedly, only one of those accounts generally receives more than a few messages a day, and we tend to check regularly; however, I use POP all the time for them, and have noticed no problems through all the recent ups and downs with iB.
