Iburst getting worse by the week

Very sad to see iBurst going the Sentech route.

I'm surfing on my 1.8Mbps HSDPA connection now - almost twice the speed of iBurst. (Mind you, I don't think I've ever hit 1Mbps with iBurst, more like 600 - 700 kbps.)

So when will iBurst upgrade their towers to support 2Mbps? Think they will be bankrupt before that happens.
 
Iburst is South Africa's Broadband Scrap Dealer:D They would certainly be laughed out of the market in any other country except here. What a K@K company?

I think they meant that HSDPA isn't broadband, it's mobile. You get iBurst for your fixed solution.

Didn't HSDPA only recently even get a USB modem, still no ethernet? I would think of it, but would I even be able to route it around the house.. or afford more than 3GB max?

Well yesterday when it really was raining heavily the tower went down 2 or 3 times.. but when it was up it wasn't actually affected very badly. Probably blew down..

Right now I can't connect to some sites at all.. trying for new IP's. :(

I've got a desktop + laptop - I just plug out my Huawei E220 from my laptop and plug it into my desktop.

Two computers, one mobile, but only one account. I like it like that. :)

I have my reservations about it as iBurst is just as mobile if you purchase the UTC, and 3G HSDPA can be used on a desktop if you install the PCI PCMCIA card adapter.
 
But still not on a router, thats what kills it for me. :( I have 3 PC's that need ot be on at hte same time, I'm sure most people have more than 1..

And I'm sure the modem sitting behind your PC, probably facing the wall, isn't the best solution.

With 3G HSDPA you've got a 'get out of jail free' card. If there's no 3G reception, you can switch to GPRS, so you can be pretty much anywhere in South Africa and still be on the net.

Not so with iBurst, if there's no signal, there's no internet.

The other cool thing about my Huawei E220 modem is that it can already handle 3.6Mbps (when Vodacom flicks the switch from 1.8 to 3.6). My friend's E220 connects at 3.6meg ... I guess that's an inaccurate Win XP reading?

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do more tests with his modem as he only has 500mb! :(
 
Going to print and sell some Orange T shirts a la "laugh it off" so I can afford some real true Broadband. Any speed, With NO!!!!shaping and NO!!!!!CAP!!!!.

Jokes aside... I paying R600 a month for my iBurst which for me is quite alot of money since I don't exactly roll in the cash...

all I want is for them to provide the service they advertise...

You could have done a whole lot better for a lot less if you took the time to investigate other possibilties. If they are the only service provider in your area then I feel sorry for you, genuine:)
 
Im long gone, and glad to be gone

Canceled 2 months ago & am now on a 3Gig / 384Mb ADSL package.

I get download speeds of 39kB/s ALWAYS; day, night midmonth or monthend. The ping is also consistant at around 29ms for local and around 370 for international.

Probably not as great as iBust is supposed to be, but damn, it costs less (just) and IT WORKS!! ALWAYS!!
 
Michael I have the same problem MOST the time only 196.46.64.xxx works and the 41.208.xxx.xxx ranges are "dead"

I say most the time as right now I am on 41.208.229.xx and it's working even though slower than the 196.46.64.xxx ranges.

It's past the time that they sort out these dumb problems which keep showing up every few days.

HELP!

Hey Mr H I'm on the 41 range (12.4 kbps) can't seem to obtain an IP in the 64 range that works - seems they have been taken out of service?

If you are on a 64 or have a range that works can you please PM the address excluding the last two digits of the last octet?
 
I'm on a 41.208.225.xxx right now and crawling with timeouts, tried changing a few times with the 41 range and still the same.

The 196.46.xx.xx range is still there but it takes plenty of disconnect/reconnects before you can get one in that range.

iBurst are really going backwards at an ever increasing rate, it's about time they got someone in that knows what he is doing.
